Visited here recently for 1 night with my young family. We received a warm welcome and very impressed by the cleanliness and layout of our room. Availed of room service which had an extra charge of £3.50 if you wanted it delivered to your room. I was disappointed that the menu on their website was not the most up to date menu but they still had the basic options. Food was good overall, burger was slightly undercooked. Beds were very comfortable and breakfast had a great selection. Would recommend this Holiday Inn.

We stayed at the hotel for one night on our way to Shropshire. We found the hotel after a couple of circuits of the roundabout of the motorway, we didn't find it easy to see but once there parked up no problem. …

Fantastic place, all staff from the cleaners and reception staff to the bar and restaurant staff were fantastic. All cheerful, all helpful, made us feel very welcome... a minor issue with the room was condensation on the inside of the glass meaning we couldn't enjoy the lovely view out of the window, that's the reason it got 4 stars and not 5. Food in the restaurant in the evening was great, the prices are quite steep but this is made up with having the kids eat free. The 4 of us ate (2 adults and 2 kids), with 3 drinks and 1 desert for £55 which is reasonable. The breakfast in the morning was self service with the typical English breakfast food, cereal, fruits... the staff were nice enough to get our tea and coffee while we helped ourselves to the yummy food.We look forward to our return.

Been to Chester Zoo and usually stay in a Premier Inn but it was a late call and all booked up. So picked this little gem and have to say it was a lovely place. Plenty of car parking, had dinner and it was good. The breakfast was better than the premier inn and the kids loved it.Good size room and also the bed was really comfy. A lot better again than the premier Inn who I believe recently has changed the beds making them hard to have a good night's sleep in. Only thing is I could have done with a more comfortable pillow. At breakfast the staff were lovely to the kids and really helpful. This place has a pool for which on the looks as is very nice but unfortunately forgot the kids swimming stuff.Would 100% stay here again when visiting Chester.

Absolutely filthy! Heavily stained carpets, feces smeared on more than one toilet seat in women's bathroom, dried in sauce on salt and pepper shakers, dried in food all over breakfast menus. …

Really impressed with all the staff. They all did their best to make our 2 night stay a good one & was always met with a smile from them all. What I did like is that this hotel is tucked away from any major roads so it’s quiet and peaceful especially in the mornings. Would highly recommend. Rooms also come with air con.

Interesting canal side location. Stylish room, pleasant lighting, comfy bed, lots of power sockets, good desk, plenty of hot water. Service at breakfast surprisingly attentive. 24 hour bar an interesting feature, if not one I needed to take advantage of. A good experience to stay for a night.

Our stay was a stop on our way home - the hotel chosen for its proximity to the Blue Planet Aquarium. Our booking confirmation advised that the pool needed to be booked in advance (for a 45 minute session) which I did by phone. The time chosen was confirmed by the hotel receptionist for 7pm on our day of arrival. Our journey was delayed and we checked in at 7pm and got to the pool at 7.15pm only to be told we were too late to get in. Apparently, Louise took our booking and was supposed to call to let me know that we had to be at the pool by 6.45pm or earlier. I received no such call and felt somewhat frustrated by the pool staff member's dogmatic approach to customer service. We would have been happy to have just 30 minutes in the pool but this was also denied. We booked in for the following morning instead. We opted for room service only to find no menu in the room or available online - we had to visit the restaurant to pick one up. On placing our order we were advised of a £4.00 charge to have the food delivered. This information was not available online or on the hotel website, nor was it on the menu itself or made available to us on check-in. We opted to pick the food up and take it to our room. Food allergies and requests are advised as being catered for but the fries we ordered came salted when we'd specifically asked that they have no salt added which was a shame. We could have complained and requested a new bowl but the option of waiting for more fries to be cooked whilst the rest of the food grew cold meant we did not.Breakfast was good with a large selection of hot and cold options. The staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. The room had a strange smell of body odour that, after checking with each other - and smelling the bed clothes and furniture - registered that it must be IN the room rather than one of us! Perhaps the aircon? It wasn't overpowering enough to request a room change but not particularly nice. The location is peaceful and the parking is adequate. We were asked at check-out whether our stay had been good and I chose not to take the opportunity to discuss the issues listed above as we had an appointment to keep and time was limited.

This beautifully converted former canal warehouse is spotlessly clean with attentive staff. The breakfasts are simply superb as is the restaurant for evening meals whilst the prices are moderate mid-range. …
