I stayed with my dad just for 2 nights and I can’t emphasise enough how lovely our stay was. Staff were so welcoming and chatted to us at the bar. We had both breakfast and dinner in the hotel and there was a super good range of items to choose from on the menu. Really good food. The rooms were nice and modern and had everything you need.Would definitely recommend!

Have stayed here for a couple of times and, comparing to other hotels of the same class in Cardiff, Mercure North seems to be one of the best. I enjoyed rooms of a proper size, full breakfast (which is now rare amongst other economy-class hotels) and acceptable choice for evening meal when I was tired and didn't want to go out. The only disadvantage for me was a pricey parking on-site.After all, I could only recommend this hotel even for a long stay. Very good.

Such lovely staff. Room was very nice & spotlessly clean. Food in the restaurant for evening meal was brilliant. We were visiting relatives so we will definitely use again when coming from Scotland.

Not the best experience we were put in a room on the ground floor and all the fire doors on the ground floor were open, the receptionists excuse was people with dogs needed access to the gardens so they leave the un alarmed fire doors opened which meant anyone could just walk in of the street and come into the hotel premises, especially a homeless person and sleep in the corridor outside our room. Not to mention, the spy hole on our room door was broken so anyone could look in our room through spy hole. I always thought fire doors were meant to be alarmed and kept shut, but not at this hotel. Luckily, we complained and were moved to a better room. Then our £12.50 breakfast all food was poorly cooked not appealing at all bacon undercooked, stale pastries charcuterie looked like it had been there a week, just kept reusing instead of making fresh plates, staff at breakfast were rude and unengaging, fruit salad was slimy and seemed like it was 2 days old, very unimpressed with this 4 star hotel i would say this was more like a 2 star experience. Oh, and finally they made us pay for parking £8 considering how far from town this hotel is, why did we have to pay for parking. Really, poor experience, even the chairs in the rooms, were stained and soiled, not impressed at all. 1 star.Having read another review on here 4 months ago i can see someone else alo had concerns regarding safety and your breakfast so nothing changed your reply just pooks like its a copilot reply not personalised at all feels like your team just do not care about your customers really poor service again.

Really nice hotel which is a shame because basic things really let it down.£8 per night for parking, unacceptable given the location. It was free prior to January 2024. According to responses to other reviews this is for the upkeep and security of the carpark. Which I can confirm neither happen, there is no security, barriers are aways open and the carpark is like driving on the surface of the moon. 100% profit.Sleep will be the biggest issue at the hotel, on one side the A38. On the other side you overlook the carpark, to which most deliveries are made around 4am. Hardly slept, ibis is a similar price and not much further away. If you're in the area I'd recommend elsewhere.Staff and rooms are great but you won't get much sleep.

Lovely hotel really clean apart from a small amount of dust on the plug socket but you can't expect perfection! One negative would be you cant get through on the phone, I tried several times and was ringing for over 40 minutes in total before I gave up, and on arrival was waiting a while for reception, other than that the staff were brillant, really polite and so helpful! The man's name we believe began with P who wore a turban and he helped us with our room and an extra bed for our daughter and he also went to get us a highchair! So kind! What an asset to this hotel! The one thing which we would of changed is having a bath for our 2 year old daughter and we picked it as it was child friendly but I didn't find the rooms particularly child friendly especially the bathroom and the large sink which was her head level and she bashed her head on it :,( she was OK but I wouldn't want that room again but I believe they are all the same.

Check-in and bar staff all very pleasant to deal with and a nice experience overall.Quality of dinner was lacking and the format of the restaurant was more like a canteen than a 4* hotel restaurant. The food was basic pub grub and not 4* hotel food.Breakfast was good, with good selections, but again felt like a canteen. The staff manning the restaurant at breakfast were rude and dismissive, and in stark contrast to the staff at the bar and the rest of the hotel. I could see they were busy and harassed, but they were still pretty rude in my view. There are plenty of other hotel choices in the area, so I would not recommend this one particularly, based on my personal experience from the one visit.

The breakfast was one big chaos. Dirty tables, not enough food, searching for cups, plates and cutlery.Public toilets were dirty 3 days in a row. REALLY dirty.Emergency doors open all day. Near the rooms. Unsafe and inviting for ....Carpets in the corridors dirty and very dusty.....Would not recommend going there.Would not recommend people thinking if going there.

Stayed here with a tour group. Hotel room was lovely and very spacious. When I entered the room it was stinking hot and immediately went to turn on the aircon. After 10 mins of holding down the button it still did not turn on. I then read on their welcome sheet that you need to ask reception to turn it on. I log the support through their app and after an hour no one came. I then walked down to reception and spoke to the rudest receptionist I have ever met. She did not care that my aircon was not working and said she would send someone. Almost 2 hours comes and still nobody I go back to reception and again this lady was there. I asked how long it would be as it was 7:30pm and I would like to go to bed she just shrugged and continued to text on her phone I asked again and she said she would text maintenance and continued to ignore me. Went back to my room extremely disappointed and finally got the aircon to work.
