We really enjoyed our stay here. The bed was very soft though! It is a very old building, the hall floors creak, which adds to the quaint charm. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple, but very good. …

Just terrible. We didn’t feel comfortable at all! Besides the friendliness of the two men at the reception, there’s no positive feedback we can give. The room was far too small for two people. Mould is to be found in the sleeping area as well as in the bathroom. The beds are highly uncomfortable and don’t seem to have a mattress. In the bathroom, there was broken glass in the floor and leftover from the previous guests in the shower. The rooms was extremely dusty and had a weird smell to it.We really regretted our decision to book the two breakfasts for 15£ per person. The whole dining area is organised in a chaotic way and the staff don’t seem to know what they are doing. The choice of food was limited and the quality of the meals below average. What is more, get ready to wait for your meal and don’t expect to get the right one. A small buffet would reduce the stress on the staff and make the whole breakfast more enjoyable for everyone.I’ve been in Edinburgh several times so far and this has been the biggest disappointment within all of my trips.

Don’t believe everything you read on the Brooks Hotel, Edinburgh, website. Stayed three nights in a standard room, which was very small, had badly stained carpet, just one bedside cupboard and one bedside light. Views of city? Yes if you can see through blocks of flats… asked every day for the bathroom sink to be unblocked and the bathroom fan repaired. Nothing happened. Bathroom very small, but shower was fine. Staff were polite and very good in dining area - it’s not a restaurant as such - but some reception staff have a very limited understanding of English. We asked for a bath mat as the tiles were slippery when wet, and were eventually given a small hand towel. Website says cotton Egyptian sheets and fluffy duvets - nothing like it! Duvet very thin and pillows hard. Our bedroom was badly in need of renovation. Internet very iffy and slow in the bedroom. Fortunately we did not spend a lot of time actually in the hotel. Don’t like writing a review like this but the hotel was the one big disappointment about our stay in Edinburgh, and it wasn’t as if it was a late booking. We booked early - based on the hotel website words and pictures - to see the Military Tattoo at the Castle,, which was excellent !

Do you want a hotel/room that has the below.- Bed bugs- Dirty in general- An office chair as a bedside table- A shower that had the door hanging on by the top rail only.- The worlds smallest TV- A 4am wake up call from the screaming Asian family next door.- To hear the washing machine cycle at am.- A very average mattress that is ok if you don't move.- Coffee that looks like mud.- Sticky dirty dining tables.- Un edible breakfast food.- No business receipt for drinks from the honesty bar.If you said yes to the above then this your hotel. If not then avoid like the plague.Pay more, stay somewhere better.

There is no lock system on the inside of the door. There is no ‘do not disturb’ or ‘please clean’ signs to hang. So when we came back after our first day out we had someone in our room re making the beds. …

If i could give this place no stars we would. We booked in to attend a wedding. The room was tired not very well cleaned, no wardrobe or reasonable drawer space the bathroom was tired with kickboards hanging off, the toilet hard to flush and the worst the shower was a trickle. So we reported it early in the morning, don't worry if we can't fix it we will move you. We returned to find the shower not fixed and not a chance of being moved. No one would take responsibility it kept being passed back to the owner. The lack of customer service is shocking despite being advised repeatedly we were going to a wedding no one cared. As for breakfast the guy didn't have a clue what he was doing and to be truthful the food wasn't great either. Very disappointed and would NOT recommend.

Our room was well decorated and the bed was comfortable. The strange thing was that it was a queen bed on a king base! …

Filthy, disgusting, unfriendly, horrible - like the toilet scene from Trainspotting!Filthy, Dirty, Disgusting hell hole of a place. An horrendous experience! The best thing we found was a cheaper, cleaner, friendlier hotel right around the cornerBut not only did we lose €360 we also had to pay elsewhere for one night, all thanks to this place. The hotel photos are not of this hotel, not sure where they got them.Filthy, disgusting, unfriendly, horrible, AVOID AVOID AVOID - DO NOT STAY HEREFilthy, disgusting, unfriendly, horrible, AVOID AVOID AVOIDWe had originally booked for two nights (€360)but were compelled to check out early due to the unacceptable state of the room and overall cleanliness of the hotel.Upon arrival, it was immediately clear that the hotel did not meet the standards represented on your website and booking platforms. The carpets in the common areas were dirty and smelly, and our room was in particularly poor condition. The email confirmation of a double bed was not met as this room contained two single beds pushed together. The carpet was stained, smelly and sticky, the pillow had significant discoloration, and the mattress was visibly unsanitary. To make matters worse, the duvet was also covered in stains and in very poor condition. The window would not close fully which resulted in street noise in the room. Attempts to close the window fully - risked damaging the window or myself. We struggled to sleep that night from the noise but mainly because of how unhygienic the room wasThese issues left us uncomfortable and unable to stay the second night. We have attached photos documenting the condition of the room, which significantly contrasts with the images shown on your listing on Booking.com. The misleading nature of the listing further compounds the situation. We informed the hotel on the Sunday as we were leaving, wrote the complaint with pictures on Monday and received this reply on the following Thursday night:Dear,I hope this email finds you well.My apologies for the inconvenience caused to you. Unfortunately on this occasion we are unable to issue the refund or compensation.Kind RegardsSai KrishnaBrooks ReceptionApologies for the inconvenience? Disgusting!

DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL!! I had the most terrifying experience here. There was no power or heat in my room, and a man tried to get into my room at 6 o’clock in the morning. There was no latch or safety securities in the room so I put a chair in front of the door, and thankfully so. I immediately requested a refund for the night I didn’t stay, the hotel refused it. Such a scary experience!!!
