Close to princes street, I Was still able to get a table without booking beforehand. Very nice and, if I dare say so, attractive Staff. The food was Good and affordable. Personal highlight was the homemade lemonade.

The room is great, but having to walk through a restaurant/kitchen to get to the rooms was unpleasant. The WiFi was basically non existent. There is no lift for luggage either. It’s extremely anti-accessible. There was also a ridiculous amount of noise you could hear from the room because it faces an alley with the backside to a few restaurants/bars. The rooms were very warm. Even with the windows open and the fan provided on.

This is a great place to go for a drink or a meal especially if you are showing a friend around Edinburgh. The staff are great. The service is great. Maybe turn the music down a little bit and provide a bit more information about the local and Scottish food and drink that is being served. I also miss the Saltire that used to hang above the front door.

Saw Rabble recommended in Time Out. Weekend, 2 night stay. Its location is great. Walkable to all the major tourist spots. Room ok but at the rear of the property just above where they dump the glass! Very noisy. Staff are charming but the management are remiss in looking after solo travellers. Dinner on Saturday night with a reservation I was assigned to a table adjacent to the bar in and out between couples and groups. My order took 30 minutes, the pork belly had to go back for crisping. Maybe an off night but ….

This review relates only to the pub/restaurant and not the hotel! We went during the Festivals in August, so the place was rather packed and noisy (the music could be turned down a notch in my - old - opinion).Probably due to the fact that it was very busy, service was a bit slow, but the drinks and the food were really good. The cocktails were amazing. But what really impressed us - as Belgian tourists - was how incredibly nice the whole staff was. The place became our HQ during our stay in Edinburgh and we will definitely go back when visiting again!Thank you for your amazing welcome!

Seated at 3pm rather than our booking at 5pm thank you but felt like service was pretty non existent.Waited over 20mins to be offered a drink and order food. Waitress was lovely. Got the food (2 burgers) - it was fine, nothing special at all but for £18.95 you’d expect a little better than fine. After we received our food the service stopped. No check back. No offer of another drink. Had coats on and ready to leave before we could get our bill (even after asking for it when the plates were cleared).Good location, decent menu, perhaps just short staffed?

I walked in for a late lunch after 2 o’clock on May 14, 2024. It was clear the dining room had had a huge number of guests as they were clearing up most of the tables. Despite that, I was met with the most heartfelt of welcomes and the table I picked was cleared immediately. The service was excellent! Everything from my lovely server, bringing me one of the most delicious Caesar salads I’ve ever had accompanied by a wonderful drink, hand-delivered by the cheerful bartender. Absolutely top-notch! Only a few minutes walk from Princes Street, on the on right hand side of Frederick Street, just after George Street, this is a bit of a hidden gem 💎 not to be missed. Enjoy!

Came here for 2 breakfasts. First time we were early with only 1 other table, and the service was fast and attentive. Second time we were late at 9.30am and the place was about half full and the service dropped dramatically. Took ages to order, and the food took nearly an hour to prepare, and took ages to get the bill and we nearly missed out train back to London. However, in both instances, the food was really tasty and unique. Loved the haggis!

We went for the £15 dinner menu. The starters were tiny only a few bites and honestly nothing special but the steak and the mussel were really good and made up for it. Restaurant is cool and plenty of space. We did not stay here.
