A beautiful hotel in a great location! The rooms are very beautiful and well taken care of. We enjoyed the decor in the history of the building. Everybody was very nice. The restaurant was awesome and bars were great service and the breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend.

We stayed at the Cheval for 2 nights in a room on the 6th floor. The room included a small kitchen, a narrow living room with dining area, one bathroom, one bedroom and a small curtained sleeping nook off of the kitchen.  …

Modern and clean apartment that was well-appointed with laundry and a small kitchen - merciful additions at the end of a long trip! …

Great location, great breakfast, room was really nice but it lacked storage space for large luggage otherwise no complaints. Our room did have a washer that also doubled as a dryer. Very helpful.Special shout out to Sam. She understands hospitality so well. Very friendly and very accommodating. 5 stars

Where to begin? Most of the counter staff were fine. The African lady who checked us out was useless. Very slow. Did not know what she was doing on the computer. Told us our cab was coming without even calling the service. Another guest approached and started asking about breakfast so she ignored us until I brought her back and told him to wait his turn.Jo, is just as useless, but she is at least charismatic. She ordered a cab instead of the executive saloon we were charged £97 for. I'm still expecting that refund.Bell hop was rude, and acted like security not assistance. The room heater was unbelievably hot. We were not able to adjust it or turn it off ourselves. Some posters received something special for their anniversaries. Not us.Worst breakfast we had in Edinburgh.House cleaning. We had the same stained duvet all week. No sheet. Just duvet. They also made the bed directly over our pajamas. My wife thought her pajamas were stolen, until we remembered the lazy staff probably tucked them in. Hardly changed the trash. The trash can was so small that it needed to be changed often but wasn't even changed daily. We were only given enough detergent for 1 load of laundry and dishes was disappointing. Especially when we did a load of dishes but the staff loaded more dirty in the clean load, again we had no more detergent to run the washer again. The one day they left their McDonald's trash in our room without taking out our trash either. Literally leaving the room worse than when they arrived. We were left with wet and dirty towels most days. Drains were slow and often clogged. Rimmed with red mildew. The TV was supposed to have internet, but that cord and port were broken. Not nearly enough hangers for the closets.Dinner at lady libertine was actually pretty good. Unfortunately, that was our first meal at the hotel and it set unrealistic expectations for the rest of our stay. The hallways were migraine inducing with the fragrance being sprayed. Definitely trying to mask something.2 smoke alarms in one week. 2. Were there actual fires? No. Someone cooking dinner in a wok. To literally quote the counter staff for one of the alarms, "some Chinese family was cooking with a wok." That sentence tells a lot, considering I was just another guest. The other was presumed to be a wedding party vaping. Obviously they didn't mind setting off the alarm at midnight. They just left. The staff laughed off the alarms saying they happen all the time. It took over an hour for each alarm, in the rain at midnight. Two vouchers for cheap sparkling prosecco. Thanks.Speaking of the wedding party. The bride wanted pictures in the lobby, that fine, but I want to get through to the elevator. Share the space. I almost felt bad for tge bride because she was probably told she would have the space. The bed and sofa weren't comfortable. The pillows were unbelievably flat despite looking fluffy. Nothing to them whatsoever. We've had better stays at holiday inn. I would never come back. I would never recommend any one to stay here if I wanted them to remain a friend

Wow! What a lovely place to stay. Beautiful rooms, clean and very comfortable. I’d like to especially mention Joy who has been the most wonderful and attentive person I’ve met in a long time. She was super kind and friendly and really helpful. Amazing young lady!!I had a dog with me and the room was set up with a bed for him, bowls and treats. Truly the kindest thing I’ve seen in a hotel. Highly recommend it.

Everything is amazing about this hotel! The room is very clean and spacious. And there is washing machine in the room, which was much needed for me after one week of travelling in the highlands. Though I had to move out on the day of the Taylor Swift concert cause I could not afford it :(
