Not sure how people rate this place so high but perhaps people look at things differently.||Easy enough to find even though sign is somewhat obscured.||Car park is somewhat unkempt and from outside the place looks depressing. …

It was a fantastic room. We stayed in the most affordable, and it was perfect for us, spacious and beautiful. The restaurant was excellent. The staff was beyond helpful. We arrived later than we wanted. The kitchen was closed, but the team was accommodating and heated our food and delivered it to our room. A bus stop right in front of the hotel with a bus directly to Edinburgh City centre that runs until quite late, which is lovely. It was like staying in a family home.

Had a family meal there on 25th of Feb. Place was busy but with plenty of room and enough space that groups weren't imposing on eachother.Menu was fairly basic, but everyone loved the food and the portions. Service was very pleasant and cheerful, a credit to Hotel.Had stayed there a night before last Xmas when stranded in Penicuik and was impressed enough with my breakfast that I recommended the hotel to the family for Maw's 80th. Family were impressed. Also recommend reading up on the special history of the hotel, which explains the strange (if you don't know why) zebra logo for a Scots hotel.

Located at a distance of 30 minutes away for Edinburgh still I would recommend the place for its quiet and peaceful location. Absolutely loved the stay and was easy access to public transport from the location as well. Very clean and tidy and staff was also very nice. First time full scottish breakfast experience and it was great. Staff was kind and offered us an early checkin and a late checkout with no hassle and we loved the experience. Would recommend the place foe anyone looking forward to have a splendid experience in Edinburgh.
