Clean and modern rooms. Very basic and only have the necessities. The rooms are a little on the small side but cozy. It’s a great place to stay if you plan on exploring the city and not lounging in your room for hours at a time. Great price and in an ideal location. Reception staff are friendly and give great advice and recommendations.

Staff were friendly and accommodating, decor was nice, and the place was clean. Fine if your just looking for somewhere to crash. Rooms are built to be small and that they are so expect to have to hop over the bed from time to time. With the smallness of the rooms comes proximity to neighbours, you are able to hear a lot from the other rooms. Also rooms got warm quite quickly which wasn't ideal as it meant opening a window a dealing with traffic and train noise at 3am. Beds weren't the comfiest either.

The hotel is modern and clean however our bedroom was so small and there is no wardrobe, so felt a bit restless after a couple of nights as I never travel light. Beds comfy. Reception staff helpful, rooms aren’t cleaned but could go down and get extra towels and toilet rolls etc whenever we wanted. Brilliant location 10 min walk from the city centre. Lovely tea and coffee/ drinks served at reception for you to buy. Parking charged at 10 a night, requires excellent parking skills as quite tight. Overall happy with our stay couldn’t complain with the affordable price, especially around Hogmanay/ new year, and could get a restful nights sleep despite being on a main road.Air con / heater was not working during our stay but portable heater provided so no problems.

The rooms are way too small. First room we got was smaller than a toilet even if we paid for the bigger sized room. The rooms was dirty when we came, dusty shelf’s and generally not clean. The rooms doesnt get cleaned properly and you need to ask for cleaning. When they “clean” they don’t empty trash bins even, give you toilet paper or towels. So u always had to go down to ask for it. Our room had no heat when we arrived but they blamed that it takes a while to heat up? Spend first 3 nights sleeping in our clothes. Also bring your own hangers since they will have only two in the room and no wardrobe. Not at all worth for the price.

This hotel is in a great location next to the tram that takes you into the city centre or it’s just a 10 - 15 min walk. The staff are very friendly and the hotel looks good. The bar connected to the hotel serves nice pub food and it has great service. The rooms are just ok at this hotel. The rooms are compact which isn’t a problem just not very well designed. Things have started to break in the rooms and they look like they need a bit of TLC.The bed was awful!!It was so hard you cannot get comfortable. The springs were making noises all night and you just couldn’t get a good nights sleep. The air conditioning kept turning on all the time even though we turned it off and it was very noisy. So the hotel is in a good location and looks nice from the outside but doesn’t supply a great nights sleep.

We booked a room with two twin beds, but when we entered the room assigned to us, it was still being cleaned. The friendly receptionist immediately found us another room, on the top most floor and on the quiet side facing west so we had great sunsets each night. The new room was a bit small and had only a double bed that was pushed up against the wall. My husband had to be the one to crawl over me when he needed to get out of bed.Housekeeping was every 3 days and that is totally acceptable. Some minor concerns include: new sheets had old stains on an otherwise perfectly white and crisp sheet; air conditioner was very dusty; and housekeeping forgot to give us a spare roll of toilet paper and we had to ask for one at reception.Breakfast could be purchased. It was at the attached restaurant called Platform 5. Food was good and there was unlimited coffee and drinks. They need more staff though because the popular foods would run out and some people would leave dirty plates and spoons right there next to the clean ones. More staff would mean a neater breakfast area. The location is this hotel's best attribute. It's right across the street from the Haymarket train station. All on all, we had a great stay. I like the modern, sleek, clean look. Also like the upgraded toiletries which included shampoo, body wash, body lotion, and hand wash. Very classy.

Location of the Hotel is excellent for getting around Edinburgh and Scotland without having to rent a car as the Haymarket train station is right across the street. Was able to walk to the Royal Mile with ease, picked up a bus trip to the Highlands, and even took a train to travel to the second leg of of my trip--London. The room itself was very small, which was mostly fine as I did not spend much time there, but the bathroom was super small and hard to move around in. Thankful for the air conditioning as it was warmer in Scotland in August than I had anticipated.Appreciated the Sky TV box as well as the snacks, etc. for sale at reception. The adjoining bar Platform 5 was great to have next door for breakfast as well as nighttime snacks and drinks. Overall a good stay and great value for the price.
