You can tell this hotel has a few years on it but they went out of their way to also make it feel like luxury. I scored gorgeous upgrades for myself and my mother, which was much appreciated. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. My biggest frustration was parking, which was a memorable hassle.

Top-notch, with some navigation issuesThe hotel site is actually converted from what used to be a church, which explains some of the review below.First, this as an absolutely first-rate facility. The amenities are incredible, and the hotel staff were beyond friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious, with all sorts of extras, comfortable bed, an absolutely cavernous bathroom complete with heated floor (!), and complimentary water/soft drinks/snacks in the mini bar. The hotel is close to plenty of restaurants, shops, and attractions. Our only issue has to do with the navigation. Because the hotel is a converted church, there were limits to the renovations they were permitted to do; consequently, getting by elevator from the lobby to our first-floor room (below ground) was a convoluted process involving going up a floor, traversing a labyrinth-like array of halls to find another elevator and take it to the floor you wanted. Although staff were happy to help direct us, signage could be a lot better, especially for those times when there’s no one to ask. Stairs were a little more direct, but 26 stairs between floors isn’t great for those with mobility issues. Our daughter and son-in-law did have problems with a non-working air conditioner; maintenance was quick to respond and tried to fix it, but ultimately installed a portable unit when the repair was unsuccessful. We didn’t eat in the restaurant except one morning to have breakfast, though there are far better options in the city.Overall, we would love to stay again, but would make a point of requesting a room on the third floor.

Very nice hotel. Great location. Great people. Garden suite had an entire window wall with a nice view. The weakness is dining and bars. Both are too limited for 5-star rating. A bit of pain in the butt if you are driving. Unsure I would stay there again, but then I’m spoiled.😁

The Glasshouse was a great hotel experience for our stay in Edinburgh. The views from the 3rd floor outdoor rooftop area are fantastic and the bar inside is quite nice. I did not love that our room literally opened right in front of that bar, but we received it as part of a complimentary status upgrade so it's hard to complain. The rooms were quite nice and well decorated, however be careful with the showers as they're prone to flooding the floor. Service was solid throughout our stay, and noise was minimal in our room. Would stay here again. Heated bathroom floors were a nice surprise!

This is a Jekyll and Hyde hotel in the spirit of the famous Edinburgh author’s great work of fiction. If you stay in one of the suites on the main floor it will be a dream. If you get put down through the mouldy labyrinth of a dungeon it will be a thing of nightmares. We had a room booked and upgraded to the suites and we were excited for our stay with our newborn in tow. The day before we get the email you upgrade has been revoked and your upgrade refunded. It was a downwards slope from there. To get to the room involves a lengthy walk through the main hotel, past the bar and then you end up in a gritty service area with a service elevator. You then have to navigate a mouldy labyrinth of fire doors, industrial corridors with no guide and no labelling. It can take a good 10 minutes to get to your room.As a titanium elite Marriott member (one tier away from the highest level) I’ve seen my share of hotels. This has been my worst experience and it left a sour note on what should have been a great weekend for a family weddingOh yes… we asked for late check-out. Which the status entitles you to and we got only rude responses from the staff and a total unhelpful responses that frankly characterised our stay.Make sure you get one of the suites or avoid this hotel like the plague. Mr Hyde awaits you beyond the labyrinth.
