It was bit out of the Takayama city center but they offer free shuttle bus services. Please refer to Google map review for shuttle bus time table or go to the Washington Hotel and inquire about the shuttle bus time table, which right in front of Takayama Train station where the shuttle bus pick up drop off location to & from the hostel. It’s an old school authentic Japanese onsen specially designed for local people. It’s perfect if you are up for a real deal Japanese onsen experience. It’s no fancy hostel with English speaking host or receptionist, don’t expect to meet too many backpacks or tourist as well.If you are here just because you can’t find a cheap hostel than you are up for a culture shock of your life… please go there with open heart & open mind… you might love it like myself & Elza did. … and we miss it a lot. It was true Japanese onsen experience.

This was my first time staying in a dormitory, and this is the first time I've ever stayed in such a bad dormitory, including staying overseas. Futons were lined up on the floor of the same room, and I was forced to sleep less than 1 meter away from the person next to me.The snoring of the person next to me was so loud that I ended up sleeping in the lobby. The bathroom is also old-fashioned and hasn't been updated at all. Many of the hotels and accommodations in Takayama City are fully booked, so there are times when you don't want to stay there, but I definitely recommend taking a hot spring in the city and spending the night in your car.

As this is an entertainment facility for the elderly, the bathing fee is set at a hefty 1,150 yen. The hot water has grime and oil slick floating in it, and the outdoor water is extremely dirty and extremely lukewarm. Even if you say it's just rainwater collecting, it's at a level that makes sense. The changing rooms are also not well cleaned. The good thing about it was that there were no people around, so I was able to use two hair dryers and my hair dried very quickly.

I stayed there.Just like the other reviews, this is the worst place to stay.I don't even want to call it a lodging place. In this case, a nearby Necafe would be better.

The open-air bath started at 15:00. Only indoor baths available until 15:00. It's old and expensive. There was a hair dryer, cotton swabs, and lotion, but no tissues. This is expensive for more than 1,000 yen.

Stay overnight, but add 900 yen for hot spring bathing. Also, is there an additional charge for towels? Why not set an all-inclusive price from the beginning?

Not worth 1,150 yen.If you have a shop card, it will cost you about 800 yen, but you don't have a shop card these days.
