Stay away from this hotel! The reception is slow because the hotel is understaffed.Lightning in the alley is dark, looks gloomy. The room is small, you could barely move around. The utensils in the room was dirty (there was coffee stain in the spoon, must be from the guest before me).Yes it is cheap, but still not worth the money. There are many other inexpensive hotels around that area that should be better choice instead this hotel.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTI never post reviews online, but I feel I should warn anyone who's thinking of booking this hotel due to its location and seemingly good value. Please read the whole post, it will help you decide. We booked two nights here right before our flight to go back home from our Japan trip. On the second night at around 3am, the toilet broke and the water wouldn't stop running so there was no way for us to sleep. We contacted the front desk and one of their staff came to fix the toilet. He didn't say much and proceeded immediately by using the shower head to fill up the toilet water tank... It occurred to me this didn't look like the first time this had happened with the toilet but after about 20 minutes, he couldn't fix the issue and we had to move all of our stuff into another room. Throughout the entire process, the staff member was not apologetic at all and didn't offer to help move any items for us. A simple gesture to help move the luggage would be a bare minimum but he did nothing and left. This just completely shocked us since all of the places we've been to in Japan, we've had nothing but amazing service. As a result we didn't sleep much and weren't feeling great at all for our last day in Tokyo. In the morning during check out, we asked if we would be compensated in any way, since what happened disrupted our sleep and forced us to move to another room in the middle of the night. We were left standing there for 20+ minutes while they discussed what to do with us. After talking to their owner, they told me that in Japan, broken toilets and leaking water is the norm, it's nothing surprising, and they cannot give any compensation except a discount if we come back in the future.I know Japanese people pride themselves on their service. This really left us speechless, we were too tired to even get super mad, not mentioning we had a flight to catch. So friends, if you are reading this, there are countless other options out there, stay away from this hotel. Here are some of the other issues this Hotel has:1. This is probably not the first time this toilet broke, a simple swap of the rubber stopper inside the water tank would fix the issue, but the owner either completely neglects or is just too cheap to fix.2. As others mentioned, the entire hotel smells like a giant cigarette, all of the rooms are smoking rooms.3. The elevator looks like a cardboard box at the moment. I didn’t know if it was even safe to step in at first.4. Broken lights, dirty sink and bathroom, the hotel looks like it hasn’t been updated since the 1990s5. Front desk shuts off with a metal door after 6pm, but the front door is always open, anyone can just walk in and take the elevator to any floor because you don’t need a keycard to take the elevator. The list goes on, this is just a small portion of the issues. I hope you don’t repeat the nightmare we had and avoid this hotel so you can enjoy your stay in Japan.

Old hotel but clean; within walking distance to Nippori Stn. However, you will need to pay if you need housekeeping services. The room is comfortable for one pax, but not for two. The bed is too small. If you are taller than 175cm, you will struggle to fit into the bathroom. Wifi is very spotty.Overall, the accommodation is rather cramped and uncomfortable. Some might appreciate its good location and budget price, but I would suggest paying more on accommodation for an enjoyable vacation.

Room is fine, it’s mostly clean enough, and the bed’s a little hard but i’m used to the typical Japanese business hotel bed. Comparatively decent amount of walking and suitcase space. There’s a small microwave in the room which is helpful, and the window fully opens. Their aircon works both for hot and cold air, which is better than Art Hotel Lungwood across the street with too hot central heating. The bathroom is too small, i have to stand sideways when taking a shower. Towels are bleached very clean, better than a lot of fancy hotels, and there’s a good coin laundry on 1/F, with driers that actually work(bring your own detergent and drier sheets). And there’s a decent selection in the vending machines too. I wouldn’t suggest this hotel for anyone over 5’7” or more than 150lb., but otherwise it’s a fine budget choice with discounts on longer stays.

Good location, just a few blocks away from Nippori station (you can go directly to Narita Airport via Skyliner at this station). This area is near Ueno, so if you want to go to Ueno park, it’s just a station or two away. …

The location is great. Staff were friendly. Rooms are small. We stayed as a family (2Ad, 1Ch). The wifi was not working throughout the room. We had to sit on the flr near the bathroom door with it open. …

It only takes 5-7 minutes to walk to/from Nippori station (and only two stations from Ueno). There are convenience stores nearby (7-11 and Family Mart), and the staff was accommodating. You can also leave your big suitcase(s) there if you’re intended to go to other places without bringing them. It costs around 500¥ per day per suitcase.

Location is near to station. The building is quite old while rooms are clean and tidy. Standard facilities with quite small bathroom but with wash and bath tub. Refrigerator, microwave, hot water kettle, phone charger are plus to us.Near to 7-eleven and many restaurants. We stayed for three night and will comeback again two night after Nagano.

Hotel Mystays Nippori is located in the vibrant Nippori area. The hotel is conveniently located near the train station and has many restaurants around. Hotel staff is nice and helpful. Rooms and bathroom are however outdated and dirty. On the bright side, it comes for an attractive price.
