Very nice hotel. A bit old fashioned, high quality and very charming. A spacious room with good beds and perfect heating on a chilly October day. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Stayed for 2 nights. Overall ok, spacious room, nice neighborhood, but cheap pillows, and I was woken around 7 am by sounds from the room above, presumably a family with toddlers staying there.

My wife & I stayed in this hotel back in March '24 and I've been meaning to write a review ever since, because they deserve to receive another very positive one. We are Americans but I've visited and stayed in Germany many times in the distant past. One of the great things about Germany are its hotels. I was very happy to have a chance to visit this one because it was as nice as the many I stayed at in the past. It brought back a lot of really good memories.This one is very reasonably priced, it's very well located, the rooms are quite nice and confortable and the service is EXCELLENT. I also recommend dining in their restaurant where the food and service were also excellent.While there, we needed to by tickets to ride on a Polish train to Warsaw. The on-line financial interaction to get the tickets was complicated, so we asked for help at the front desk. The two people at the front desk both spent at least 15-20 minutes helping us as we figured out how to do it on-line. I really felt they went WAY BEYOND what a guest might expect for service. We were very grateful for their assistance on this matter and generally really enjoyed out three-night stay here. We hope to visit here again, as Berlin is a very interesting place to visit and this is a great hotel at which to stay while here!

The hotel has different room categories. For midsummer nights, I recommend a deluxe room; very comfortable and with air conditioning.

Staff super nice and super centrally located. Unfortunately you get a room facing the street and you can only sleep with a window. The Straba runs right in front of the house all night long. But very bike-friendly and a good way to charge the battery and securely lock the wheels. Next time I'll ask for a room facing the courtyard

Dear little hotel. Well located for exploring Berlin, public transport directly at the hotel. Very friendly and competent staff. Unfortunately no air conditioning in the rooms. Delicious breakfast buffet for an additional charge.

I stayed at the Kastanienhof for one night and I was very satisfied. The location is a dream and I have rarely seen such a clean hotel room. The bed was comfortable and the furnishings were a bit old. (It doesn't bother you when you're sleeping - because your eyes are closed) I'd be happy to come back.

I was last there 15 years ago. Only had good memories. That's why my wife and I stayed there again during our current visit to Berlin. Again a very friendly and pleasant atmosphere. Rooms facing the courtyard are very quiet. Small but optimally furnished. Everything clean and tidy. Breakfast buffet very rich. The tram stops nearby. The chestnut avenue is very interesting. If we go to Berlin again, we will definitely stop there again.

Great hotel. Suite slightly more expensive but nice and large. We were on a cycling holiday and were able to store the bicycles in the courtyard. Nice breakfast and nice decoration with posters, etc. from the past. Atmospheric and service-oriented owner and staff.Neighborhood/street cozy and quiet with shops and lots of eateries.Room in the courtyard super quiet (many trams pass by at the front).Tram stop at the door!

Lovely place to stay in Berlin. Nice neighborhood with nice restaurants, coffee shops, etc around. Hotel has history and is very well appointed, with wonderful restaurant on site (authentic German cuisine). Stayed in a suite room with 3- very comfortable for all of us. Will definitely return. No complaints at all.

This is a wonderful hotel in a prime location. Our room was spacious, quiet, and well-equipped. Hotel staff was friendly and efficient. Breakfast buffet was well worth the the 15 euro charge. Tram stop just outside the hotel. Great value for money, would stay here again.

Definitely enjoyed our stay here and overall would recommend. The location is terrific; we wandered around the neighborhood quite a bit and just absolutely loved it. We had a 4th floor room, which included a balcony facing the street and it was fantastic. The large sliding door was soundproofed quite well. Daily cleaning service was great, the room really felt clean. Also plenty of shelving for storage.The only negatives I have are 1) the person that checked us in didn't seem very helpful at all, almost like we were an annoyance. Other staff we encountered were pleasant. 2) The bed. Really pretty uncomfortable. If you like a super soft mattress, then maybe it's OK. But for a "double bed" it's two separate single bed cushions which had the firmness of a couch cushion, along with a two soft mattress toppers (about 2 inches). If rolling over during the night you kind of somewhat fell in between them. 3) Really poor water pressure in the shower.But other than those 3 things, I would recommend. They were not a deal breaker.

Rooms were clean and well-appointed. Breakfast was very good with quite a few choices. The only issues were opening and closing the roof-vent windows, which was cumbersome, and the extra registration process requiring information I had not been asked for in any other hotel. This latter process seemed redundant and unnecessary.

Very nice old boutique hotel, with friendly service and nice rooms. Top notch. It's right on the edge of Mitte and so easy to grab the M1 or 12 tram right outside the front door. Next to tons of local shops, and easy access to city center, canal, major trains stations, etc. The only thing is that they have lots of weird surge pricing. Their website, Expedia, Booking dotcom all change daily in no recognizable pattern. Just find the best price and show them at the front desk. With some patience they gave me the best price

Really the rooms are a really good size .. you can do breakfast but there are loads of places around .. and if you have a matcha fixation you’re surrounded by places with the best to go !The service is super friendly and helpful and the hotel is situated near tram and S and U bahn stations .. I will definitely be back
