Final conclusion in September 2024:As can be seen, my criticism was not addressed at all here.That's really sad.However, I know how to draw conclusions from this experience.Something can go wrong anywhere, that's out of the question.But simply keeping quiet about the problems that have arisen is not good management.That's why unfortunately the last star for service is gone.There were always 5 stars for the employees present on site.Addendum August 2024:It's a shame that I now have to experience how the representatives of an actually great company manage to turn away the customer/guest after otherwise enthusiastic satisfaction.After my request, I was told by phone, could not be dealt with directly by reception as I thought, and I was instead referred to the hotel's website, I asked for an email to be sent,Information regarding my existing booking.Unfortunately, the person who answered my call was, according to her statement, unable to send me an email due to time constraints.At that point she had already accessed my booking and, as she confirmed, my email address.In the hope that I might still receive the email I wanted, I stayed waiting for the time being.Now, a few hours later, I would like to revise my rating downwards in terms of service.Since the company side thanked me very much for my always positive reviews, I am now curious to see whether this time I will be answered with a contact who can ease my displeasure a little.By the way, I have the phone number for the hotel reception. This time there was very little accommodation to be expected.Since we always felt comfortable and at home, I'll give it 2 stars for service.The employees present on site always had 5 minutes for us.Original review:We are currently enjoying the winter peace and quiet on the Lower Rhine in February 2023 and have found the Welcome Hotel Wesel, probably the best place for a weekend for two. But families with small or older children will definitely feel at home here.The direct bank location with an incredible view of the Rhine cannot be topped.The room, there are only suites, not only corresponds to the description in the brochure but far exceeds it and is perfectly cleaned and equipped.All employees are warmly friendly and helpful.The paid parking lot is worth the price. There is also the option to park for free.The breakfast buffet is included in the overnight price and has rightly won several awards.The lobby is linear and very comfortably furnished.The small hotel bar leaves nothing to be desired.I would like to thank the entire team for a great weekend.See you soon for longer.It burns on my soul to write the following addendum:Now, in October 2023, after several stays, we have gone through a few rooms and categories.Not once did we have any reason to complain.I can't believe that someone actually considers the noises of ships or their emissions to be a nuisance when they book a hotel DIRECTLY on the waterfront.Furthermore, all guests who clamor for air conditioning should think about their ecological footprint.Greetings from here, right now ;))).May / June 2024:OMG the foyer turned out beautiful!!!

Disadvantages: Poor WiFi, mattresses are uncomfortable, bathroom fan makes noises that you can hear from the bedroom and doesn't work well anyway, room cleaning only after request, no USB connection option.Pros: Location, good breakfast.

Rooms clean (except for the window frames). The old damage will definitely be repaired soon.Service very good.Mr. Look in the restaurant was super great. Not intrusive, very accommodating. You feel very comfortable when he's on duty. I was really happy to see him back in service. I hadn't been to the Welcome Hotel for a long time and had fond memories of it.Food also excellent.I think the rooms will follow suit with renovation and then everything will be fine again

“Just” a visit to the restaurant - no room rented!Celebrated the 80th birthdayWhen we arrived we were speechless! Table beautifully decorated - bow, hearts, flower, candle and also a beautiful birthday card 😍. Service incredibly friendly. Received champagne from the house to toast 😃 simply beautiful. The food was a poem - the best steak!! that we have ever eaten and I have enjoyed quite a few. The sauce and potatoes are a poem. Cod is an absolute treat for the birthday child! (Direct hit) He enjoyed it very much 😃 The dessert was a dream. Welcome Hotel Gastronomy simply had a wonderful day!!!! conjured. We also enjoyed a beautiful view of the Rhine while eating. The ambience is stunning!! This friendliness from the staff is not just fake, it really is. So accommodating.....SUUUPER 👌We can absolutely recommend the gastronomy!!!Thank you for the unforgettable experience!!! A beautiful hotel right on the Rhine. We booked for 3 nights and were thrilled, starting with the large, clean suites, the extremely friendly and helpful staff, right through to the breakfast and the delicious dinner. The terrace with a view of the Rhine is also simply beautiful.

The room was quite good, the furnishings were a bit old but okay.The location right on the Rhine, simply great, on the balcony or down at the tables and enjoy the view. (For those who like boat trips) Enjoy the peace and quiet.The service is really great, always friendly, nice and helpful.The breakfast buffet was brilliant, everything was there, I didn't know what to eat first, it was checked and refilled at small intervals. The servants always have a smile on their faces. You'll be happy to go there.There is also a room for bicycles, where you could charge your e-bike directly.I can only recommend the hotel.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and my wife's 70th birthday with 70 guests in the Qstall, a branch of the hotel with a garden restaurant and a view of the Rhine. Not only was the food excellent, but the staff impressed with their extraordinary friendliness and customer-oriented service and extraordinary, rarely experienced friendliness. The team exuded harmony and joy in their work and in this way contributed to the success of our celebration. 🎩🎩🎩🎩🎩 Thank you! The hotel staff also impressed with their friendliness and willingness to provide service. The cuisine was excellent and the pricing was reasonable and moderate. We can wholeheartedly recommend this **** house. The well-equipped suites with balconies and Rhine views are also affordable for families with children.We will be happy to book this excellently managed hotel again. It was already the 4th time that we stayed here and this hotel has lost many of its good compliments, it started at check-in, it was claimed that we had not paid for the stay, but this is indeed the case, there is also no room service more during the stay and therefore our room was not cleaned during the 5 days we stayed there, even though you paid for it, there was also mold in the bathroom and there was a lot of limescale formation on the shower tap, also the breakfast has clearly lost quality, no more fresh scrambled eggs and what disappointed me most was that when we checked out we were again told that the bill had not yet been settled and it took at least 5 minutes for the administration to find that we had indeed had paid, the clerk at the reception also asked when checking out if I could provide proof of payment... but I could not do this because I pay everything by credit card and the proof that payment had been made was on my laptop, but I have this not with me during the holidays.

I have been in room 109 for barely one day and the coffee machine is not working. Asked at the counter if it could be exchanged. 6 hours later nothing happened. Sorry, there are no staff who can exchange this. Suggestion made to get a coffee machine from an empty room and exchange it. Can't.

We stayed here for four nights in one of the 'executive suites'.The good:- The room setup worked well for us. Having two on suite bedrooms and a kitchen living area gives a lot of flexibility when staying as a family.- There are a good number of activities close to the hotel such as a playground, beach, and the Roman ruins in Xanten.- The hotel restaurant serves good food and the breakfast buffet has a good amount of choice.The not so good:- The downstairs lobby has been renovated nicely but the condition of the rooms is inadequate. Carpets are stained, blinds were stained, curtains had rips some of the furniture looked like it belonged in a charity shop. Some of the kitchen unit particle board was disintegrating because it's probably 20 years old. Decor just looks super dated.- Generally, I did not get the feeling that the staff was very service orientated. Some examples:1) We have 2 year old twins and whenever we go to a restaurant the waiting staff will ask if we need high chairs and get them for us. Not here, every morning I had to walk around the restaurant collecting chairs for the kids. Why?2) On our first day the maintenance guys randomly showed up to our room saying they were there to unclog the drain. We had not asked for them to come round. So it looks like the hotel provided us with a room which they knew has an issue but they did not tell us and then act like it is normal that the drain needs to be regularly unclogged. Making it worse was that when the maintenance guys were done they literally said. 'well we are done, we will see if housekeeping can come to clean up today but we are not sure. Otherwise it will be tomorrow. You've got two bathrooms so it's fine.' in the end housekeeping did not come at all. All very strange.3) You have to ask reception if you want housekeeping to clean your room. Again strange, I think this should be opt out rather than opt in. Surely one the reasons to stay in a hotel is that someone comes to clean for you every day- I thought staying on the Rhine would be a more peaceful experience. Watching the barges is sort of interesting for a bit but ultimately they are not things of beauty and they also produce constant background noise.- Final point, and this has been mentioned by other reviews the 8 Euro parking charge is kind of BS. Realistically the vast majority of people coming to stay in the hotel are coming by car unless they are doing some kind of cycling tour. Really it's just an 8 Euro supplement on every room. Not sure about the pricing but I can imagine that this would easily add 10% for many of the guests. There are also charges for extra coffee pods. If stay somewhere 4-5 nights it'd be nice to have these replenished daily for free. They also charge extra if you need cutlery when staying in a room with a kitchen. All this feels a bit too much like a budget airline.Conclusion: while this hotel is not expensive I am not convinced that it provides good value.

We arrived by motorcycle on July 18, 2024. The staff was very friendly, especially the nice lady at the reception. The rooms are large and clean although they are a bit old. The view from the room and on the breakfast terrace were great!!!
