I had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel and I highly recommend it! I won a stay here in a competition and it was fantastic.The staff were consistently friendly and accommodating - you immediately felt welcome. The hotel manager welcomed us personally and was particularly nice; he did everything to make us feel comfortable. The rooms were just great: clean and very comfortable.The atmosphere throughout the hotel was welcoming and relaxing. Breakfast was great, with lots of delicious options to suit all tastes.An all-round successful stay! I'll definitely be back!

My extended family has been coming to Bad Hersfeld for the festival for over 60 years - this year for the 50th time at the Hotel zum Stern with 32 people. The vast majority of us were disappointed. We found that the Hotel zum Stern no longer meets its own standards of upscale hotel and gastronomy with the emphasis on being a family-run hotel, which we very much regret. We have so many wonderful memories of the star - especially from the times under the former owners Kniese and we wanted the personal things back. We are aware that during festival times it is particularly stressful to do justice to everything and everyone. But it can be little things that give a guest the feeling that they are not just another number in an overwhelmed company.

We spent one night in the Hotel 'Zum Stern'. The house is beautifully located right on the market square in the immediate vicinity of the monastery ruins, where we were also able to enjoy a great performance. The staff and service are exemplary. The house has a lot of charm due to its age. There is a nice spa area with a swimming pool. The rooms are probably all different. Unfortunately, our room was above the kitchen and the view wasn't that great. The decor of the room is cozy with the old furniture, a new carpet wouldn't hurt. All in all we were satisfied and would love to come back

The food is delicious and regional based with a wide variety on the menu for ever taste.||The service is a little slow and we did wait quite a bit for our drinks and a top up went unnoticed.||However the dining experience and the food was great.||They change the menu regularly so we will be back to give it another go

Centrally located hotel that we always enjoy visiting. Nice old rooms, friendly staff.The food was a bit disappointing this time. The salmon starter was refrigerator canned. The main course, Queen's Pie, was far too large. The pies were lost in the meat ingredients. My appetite was gone. Don't feel like eating dessert anymore.The scrambled eggs at breakfast were not tasty tube eggs.

We stayed at Stern for two nights during the festival. The location is perfect for reaching the monastery ruins in just a few minutes.We were greeted with a glass of champagne. Our room was very pretty, the old walls are a bit crooked and therefore have a certain charm. We only clean on request, we think it's good for the environment. I can also make my own bed :-)The staff was friendly in all areas, but the service was sometimes a bit fake.The food and wine were very good.We would definitely stay here again next year for the festival.One point of criticism:We had a fire alarm that night, there was a lot of excitement, the smoke alarms could be heard throughout the building for over 5 minutes. In the end it was just a false alarm.We would have liked information about the situation from management the next morning! A note at the breakfast table would have been enough. Unfortunately nothing came of it.

Very good and very courteous staff. We were there for a conference. The service and food were very good. The room was perfect and very large. Due to the half-timbered house, the ceiling was a bit low but gave the whole thing a very nice character.
