Our first stay in a Holiday Inn Express. The location by the canal is really nice with walks around the marina and along the canal bank with a great pub nearby.First impression was good it was modern yet comfy image. The rooms were basic but very adequate and exceptionally clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had breakfast, which is included, as a buffet style it was all any one would need and plenty of it, the breakfast staff made sure that it didn't run out and it was all hot.On a constructively critic note for my wife and I, we felt that the lighting, especially over the make up mirror and in the bathroom, was a bit dim. A we would have liked two chairs as lying on the bed at a mature age is not always the best way of resting. Neither of these things spoilt our three night stay.

I just want to say a huge thank you to the hotel and staff. I stayed here for two nights and it’s been wonderful. I am a single mummy with two disabled children and the staff have been absolutely amazing. I had requested assistance with my luggage and they sent a member of staff to the car to take my belongings while I tended to my children. I was assisted all the way to my room which I cannot express enough gratitude. Thank you very much for all your kindness and support.

Stayed the weekend with my son as was busy the Harry Potter tour. After a long 6 hour drive from Newcastle arrived early evening. Easy to find, room was ideal for what we wanted, comfy beds, nice shower and tea/coffee facilities. Had food in the hotel as we were tired from drive, and was pleasantly surprised was really nice food and my son loved the fries and dessert. Hotel is in a great location for restaurants and coffee shops, really quiet on evening and breakfast was superb. Would definitely stay again.

We checked in late after a concert at Wembley and having found the last available parking spot, we pressed the buzzer and were let in by a friendly receptionist.Check-In was prompt and straightforward, and the rooms were perfectly clean and functional. The free WiFi is fast and although chaotic in terms of queueing an organisation, the included breakfast was very tasty. All in all, hard to find fault with this hotel.

Basic accommodation and food from a chain hotel. A bit soulless but at least you know what you’re going to get. Unless that is if you’re unlucky enough to get a room with a single bed. There is a shelf with a light just above the headboard. I have just banged my head. What muppets thought that was good design! Try and get a double if you can.

I want this to be a personal shoutout for James and Loui at reception. Absolutely sensational level of customer service skills and I can personally guarantee these two will make sure you’re looked after. Very good hosts and the staff are all top tier. But has to be a special mention for these two gents made it a very easy going stay. Very rare for hotel staff.

Day 1 - Check in very slow, 7 minutes with staff ignoring queue. To cap it all another couple just jumped ahead and took ages with their complaints.||Day 2 - No spoons to eat cereal with for over 5 minutes.  …

Stayed in an accessible room, it was big enough and the bathroom/wetroom was a good size too. The shower pressure was awful though and you couldn't remove the shower head which made bathing more difficult than it should be. The lady that checked us in was friendly, polite and helpful making sure I had an evacuation plan in place should the worse happen. Breakfast was nice with a fairly good variety of cooked breakfast items, continental items, cereals and drinks. My one gripe would be the hallways; the cleaning staff had bags, trolleys and cleaning equipment out on the hallways which made it difficult for me in my wheelchair to get to my room. I understand they need all of the equipment but perhaps thinking about where things were placed would have made things easier.

Air conditioning in the rooms did not work thankfully there was a fan. |Whoever designed the bathroom access obviously has no disability as it has a step access: to get in you have to lift the walker over this step which is a bit scary on your own. |Breakfast adequate but could finish at 10 rather than 9.30.

As with many hotels in UK everything is looking tired and it’s very apparent there is a lack of staff and energy levels seemed low. Breakfast was stressful, tables were only slowly being cleaned up which led to delays which was an unpleasant way to start the day. Great pub across the way by the river which was an advantage.
