Another wonderful stay at a YHA hostel, this time at Eskdale. A little jewel of a place, a haven at the end of the valley. Lovely, comfortable stay & beds & bathroom facilities, lovely staff, lovely food & drink. What more can one ask for. I will be back. The staff are / were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning.

Eskdale YHA was a truly lovely part of our short excursion to explore the wonders of the lakes. Upon arrival, staff and guests crafted a most welcoming atmosphere in which we were happily immersed. …

Friendly staff, decent food, clean communal kitchen, showers and toilets, good beds and rooms—overall, good, but take a plug socket board. The Wi-Fi was extremely ropey, and there was 0 connection in the dorms. …

Stayed here for 2 nights and it exceeded our expectations. The rooms were adequate (ours, room 10, was quite small) but it did the job. The kitchen was stocked well with equipment and we ate evening meals here both nights and they were lovely and good value for money. The staff we came across were absolutely lovely. Especially K who was knowledgeable, chatty and lovely to have a conversation with. All the staffs humour and professionalism shone through. We would definitely return.

The outside pods were lovely, quiet and had great views. The pod was clean and plenty of space and the staff were very helpful and happy. i have recommended to others to stay already and plan to recommend to more. Wish we had more time to stay and use the firepit and do some more hiking.

Had a great stay at YHA Eskdale, clean facilities, and lovely staff that are very informative. Lots to look at inside the building, self-catering kitchen, has a restaurant and bar as well, all needs are met! Plenty of showers to use throughout the building. The outside of the building was picturesque with beautiful flowers and a River running through the grounds. We stayed in the hostel but other camping and Glamping options were available. Great proximity to some of the starts of the ascent to Scarfell pike, ill crag and Scar fell.

Excellent location where the YHA is located. There are too many walks and hikes nearby.|Staff is very friendly and helpful. ||There’s no network in YHA and the WiFi connection was not very great but there’s a hotel, just 5 mins walk from YHA where we can get free and strong wifi connection.||Overall the location is awesome.

Lovely little Youth Hostel in a stunning location, room was clean and comfortable and the food was good. The staff are brilliant and are know the area very well, really nice friendly people. As for Eskdale I leave the description to a better wordmith than me a certain Mr Coleridge -" I must now drop down, how I may, into Eskdale, the upper part of it the wildest and savagest surely of all the vales that were ever seen from the top of an English mountain, and the lower part the loveliest"

Beautiful hostel, wonderful service especially from the couple who run it who were more than happy to help with anything. Quiet and great access to fantastic walks. How the lakes and YHAs should be. Visited with 3 and 5 year old kids.
