My company organised a team building event for 150 people here. All our meals were excellent, the bar was well-stocked and service was brilliant. We had an afternoon of fun - buggy-building, archery, fire lighting which was great. Nothing was too much trouble. The venue is surrounded by fields and is so relaxing. Thoroughly recommend!

Fantastic 2 night stay. We had a disabled access room for my Mum and it was perfect. The bathroom had all the adaptations needed and was very large. It had a bunk bed with a lower double and a standard bunk bed. The room was clean, well heated and had enough sockets etc.Breakfast was £9.95 for the full English + continental or £6.95 for continental (cereal, fruits), yoghurt, pastries etc). Everything was fresh, perfect temperature etc. There is plenty to do in the main building to keep you amused from pool to board games. The bar is well stocked (bringing your own alcohol is not permitted). The staff were all super friendly. Informative and helpful. We will definitely be back! Thanks guys!

It's a great hostel in a beautiful setting. The only downsides are that you need a car, since public transport are not really good. The shared room is basic. I would give higher stars if there were lockers in the rooms. Breakfast was great and the evening meals. I never had any bad food in any YHA I stayed at. Good value for money. Staff was excellent and very helpful. Communal spaces are good. Wifi only works in main building.

Picturesque area and beautiful, tranquil grounds. Rooms are separate from hall itself but everyone has access to facilities in hall …kitchen, dining, games room, etc.  …

Great value for money. We were 5 people and we stayed on a weekday and our total bill was only 37 GBP.The room we booked had an attached washroom. The rooms and washroom were very clean. They offer breakfast as well. We took the continental breakfast. The staff were friendly. Would highly recommend this place if you’re on a budget.

Lovely building set in really nice grounds. The room had everything we needed and was great value. Private room, bathroom all for £25 on a Saturday night. The facilities at the hotel were great, the breakfasts looked lovely but we didn't have any. The staff were really friendly and informative. We went out into Chester for evening but would definitely stay again and explore the immediate area around the hotel.

It's a lovely setting for this hostel. Be aware that it is a youth hostel, not a hotel, so don't expect it to be the latter. The rooms are fairly basically equipped and really only for sleeping. There are, however, plenty of communal spaces and areas to relax in away from your room. Wifi is in the main building only but is good and fast there. There is also a licenced bar and restaurant with a limited but reasonably good food selection in the main building, where the pizza is (in my estimation) the best value if you are hungry. The breakfast was excellent and well worth booking. We went for the 'unlimited' variant with good cooked options and anything else from the continental selection. Kept us going until early afternoon!Staff are really friendly and helpful, and the rooms are spotlessly clean. We had a private family room with a private ensuite bathroom. (Note - you should remember to bring your own towels as these aren't included with the room, although I was told they could be 'hired').Book direct with them for the best T&Cs rather than a hotel booking site.I would certainly recommend it.

Good value basic accommodation in stable blocks. I stayed for a couple of days with two children (12 and 9) in a room with two sets of bunk beds and our own bathroom. …

The ‘system’ was down while we were there which meant zero internet or connection not via WiFi due to location. It also meant all key cards could not open doors. Poor reception staff had to keep running to doors and open them. Crazy really.Venue was lovely….big ole house with a creaky oak feel. Intimate breakfast area.
