Stayed here for two nights midweek. Excellent location. Grand hotel with lovely large seating area for afternoon tea. Stayed in a twin room on the 3rd floor. It was very spacious. It is a bit dated but it was clean and was comfortable. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Would stay again.

So much better than we thought, a beautiful building steeped with history. Food a bit monotonous, meat and same veg, cooked breakfast, toast and cereal. Rooms were not cleaned during our stay, our room had been updated. I would not hesitate staying there again as such a brilliant location. The lobby man was brilliant for a chat. Loved Liverpool as a destination, so much to do and see. People are really lovely.

We were suprised how big our room was, I think maybe you have to be lucky whether you get a decent room or not, but our second floor twin was great for the money we paid (less than 50 quid).Yes it was a bit worn round the edges but it was clean and the beds were comfortable.Staff were OK, photo ID needed to check in. Lounge downstairs is very impressive. We didn't try breakfast.

Wow. Looks are deceiving. From the outside it looks like a great place to spend the night, until you walk through the doors. Stains all over every surface in the bathrooms. Floors so gross you wish you brought slippers. Grey water out of the shower. Uncomfortable beds. It’s like this place was built in the 80’s and hasn’t been touched since. No wonde It was so cheap. A hostel would have been a better experience. Do not stay here

The hotel's location is conveniently near to the train station and the City Centre. The room itself was clean but the bath tub needs a good scrubbing. …

A once grand hotel, which still has very impressive features, but now is in need of urgent refurbishment and improvement. The windows in our room were not capable of being closed, and the secondary double glazing was completely immobile, thus allowing cold winds and street noise to enter. The adjacent car park, however, was able to be arranged at the reception on arrival, and the breakfast was fairly good. The redeeming features of this hotel, however, are still worth a visit.

Although a very grand building it is need of urgent repair Our double room was ok but the bathroom.. Well I certainly couldn’t have used the shower!! The bath was disgusting although I at first thought it was dirt I now think it was just well worn!! The handle was hanging off the door which my husband fixed in a couple of seconds I don’t understand how it had been left in that state!! The food again was ok and certainly couldn’t fault the staff But would I stay again?? No
