Nothing but a positive experience here. Check-in and out were quick. I had a private room with my partner and it was spacious and clean. The common areas in the basement were well maintained. The all you can eat breakfast was also yum and I took advantage of it a few times.Location was great. You’re within walking distance to the Tower of London and several underground stations. A lot of hidden food gems around the area as well. Also… it was quiet, which was great since I slept early to wake up early for my adventures! Will stay again if I’m in London! ☺️

Overall a pretty good stay.A few pros:-Close to Tower Bridge, but not too close to have swarms of people.-Close to Waitrose & Partners, a reasonably priced and well stocked grocery store. -Rooms are very spacious.-There are multiple common spaces with lots of seating options, the cafe common area is better for relative quiet and the bar area is better for socializing.-They have a cleaning crew that cleans all of the common areas and rooms everyday.Cons:-I’m not sure if this is the case with every room, but my four bed shared room had a bathroom/toilet that was disability accessible. This is great, except you can’t make the toilet seat stay up because of the metal bar behind it. Which in turn then leads to some people just peeing on the seat instead of holding it while they pee.-There are no paper towels or hand driers in the bedroom bathrooms (At least not mine).-They do karaoke on Thursdays. Fun, except that it goes until around 11 PM and if you have a room that is close to the basement bar it’s near impossible to sleep because you can not only hear the music with ear plugs in, but you can feel the vibration from the bass.None of the staff were ever rude or hostile, but they weren’t particularly friendly.Would I stay here again? Maybe. I’d try to find another option first though.

Wonderful location, well run facility and straight forward policies. Great amenities. They have thought of everything--charging ports and lights at your bunk, a lock box and lockers that seal with your room key. You can decide if you want your stay to be social or not, which isnt always the case at hostels. Wonderful and kind staff. Will visit next time I am in London!

I liked this hostel and would stay again. The kitchen and rooms were clean, the front desk staff were friendly and accommodating, and this hostel hosts a lot a social events and it’s a great way to meet new people. You do have to make your own bed once you arrive since the bed is not made. The laundry also costs 5 British Pounds each for washer/dryer. The dryer did not dry well and I had to pay a second time to dry my clothes. The area is very walkable. It’s a 10 minute walk to the nearest metro and very close to grocery stores, restaurants, and popular tourist attractions.I felt safe walking during the day and at night alone as a solo female traveler.

It was my first time in a hostel and London. I had a wonderful week and met some nice people. Housekeeping was cleaning our room once a day, although I wished they've cleaned the floor more. Bathroom was always clean.Location was perfect, the underground was near, good restaurants and all in all just perfect. I stayed there as a single female in a 6 female only room.Everyone had it's own locker and safe in the room.

I have stayed at this hostel twice now and both times have been a great experience. Everything is very clean, service is great, and there is a pub and a cafe right on location. It is in a relatively quiet area, but close to Tower Bridge and the transit lines. Both experiences I have had, the other people staying in the hostel have been quiet and respectful when coming back to the room at night.I highly recommend staying here if visiting London on a budget!

I wish I'd taken more pictures, but this is probably the best hostel, so much that I came back to London just because I wanted to stay at the hostel. The beds are so comfortable with privacy curtains, the bathroom and shower is like a hotel. The staff is sooo friendly, and the people I met are amazing. It was easy to talk to people, even if they don't have events going on, the bar is always full of travelers, even the kitchen and lobby. It was the first time I cooked at a hostel, and their kitchen is so great! Definitely will be staying at Wombats at any city where there is one

I stayed here solo for work pretty much 5 weeks straight in October 2024 (on and off, max stay is 7 days). I stayed in the 5 or 6 bed mixed dorms and these were clean, well maintained, and not cramped. The bathrooms had no issues with hot water and the building was well heated. All facilities are very clean and of great quality. The kitchen is fully equipped with plenty of space for cooking and storing your own food. The breakfast in the morning is definitely worth the price when booked in advance. The bar is a great place to work during the day and obviously a fun place to be in the evenings and the drinks are very well priced for London! They run great in-hostel events most nights of the week including a comedy night, pub quiz, karaoke, and occasionally live music too! All of these were great fun and the event runners for each night themselves are amazing (shoutout to the legendary quiz master Dom!)The bar staff were awesome, super friendly people and always up for a chat. And the rest of the staff were all great too!I wasn't staying here as a tourist but I can tell you the location is very central and has easy access to the tube to get you around London. You are within walking distance of the Tower of London and Tower Bridge as well as other attractions and there are some great food places within walking distance too.Overall, highly recommend and I'd look to stay here over a hotel anyday whenever I'm about in London.

This hostel has a lot going for it—clean linens, a great atmosphere, and it generally lives up to its reputation. However, as a solo female traveler, I had an uncomfortable experience when I was initially placed in a mixed-gender dorm that was entirely male. When I booked a "mixed" dorm, I assumed it would mean a mix of men and women, but being the only woman in a room with all men, especially when an older man walked around in thing underwear, changed in front of everyone and would stare at me the entire morning, was very unsettling. The receptionist was kind and immediately moved me to a female-only dorm, which I appreciated. However, in speaking with other female travelers, I learned that some have faced even worse experiences, including a woman who was also moved and had an older man screaming at her, banging on the windows and walls and moaning in the dorm. This clearly isn't an isolated issue.I understand that hostels may have challenges managing different personalities, but I do feel that more could be done to safeguard female travelers. The digital waiver guests sign upon check-in isn’t enough—more proactive measures could make a significant difference. Given how much attention is paid to other aspects of the hostel, like events and guest services, I'm surprised this concern hasn't been addressed with the same level of care.It would be great to see some policies ensuring there are at least two women in a mixed dorm or more options for women-only dorms without an additional cost. As a female traveler, it feels unfair to have to pay more for a safer option. It's especially disappointing considering young female travelers are often a key demographic for hostels like this. Prioritizing female safety should be just as important as the great experiences the hostel offers.Overall, it's a fantastic place to stay, but I hope they put more safeguards in place for female travelers in the future.
