The staff are Superstars they were fantastic. With just 30 minutes' notice, they were able to book a table for us at their restaurant. The service was excellent and attentive, making us feel special without being overbearing. We had plenty of space to enjoy our birthday meal together. The food was incredible, with large portions. The crispy, light batter on the haddock was the best my wife has ever had, and the beef in the pie was tender. The pie had pastry all the way around, unlike some pie dishes that only have a pastry top.Full credit to the staff and the chef for providing such a wonderful experience.

Absolutely fantastic weekend. Every member of staff were professional and attentive and clearly happy in their work. |The building is a beautifully aged and antique premises but decorated to an up to date style. The room was exceptional. We felt very comfortable and welcome. |The food was outstanding also. I hope we return.

Hoped to visit previously but it was when venues were forced to close because of covid. Well worth the wait. Quality room at a reasonable price. Only ate breakfast as we were visiting relatives nearby but the lunch and dinner menus looked good, as confirmed by the number of people there, both residents and guests.

Just had an amazing meal at The Royal Hotel to celebrate my birthday. The best haddock I've ever eaten. In fact the whole meal was delicious and the staff were wonderful! Highly recommended.

My best friend treated me to Afternoon Tea with Prosecco, it was displayed beautifully, such a lovely selection of vegetarian sandwiches and savoury treats. Delicous scones and amazing variety of cakes. We were provided with boxes to take cakes home. Excellent service and excellent value for money. It was a lovely birthday treat for me. 🫖🍵🥪🎂🥂

Visited the Royal Hotel to have Sunday Carvery in the Palm Court on the 14/07/2024. Brend's teams always seem to provide consistent and lovely service. The two young lads working behind the carvery were so lovely and polite and were particularly observant to those customers who may require extra assistance with serving or getting their plate back to the table, something so simple to give a much more pleasant experience but missed in a lot of establishments unfortunately. The waiting staff were all extremely pleasant. Food is always top notch , eyes bigger than belly but fantastic selection and quality of meet and veggies.

Everything about our visit to The Royal Hotel was excellent. All of the staff we interacted with were happy, smiling and willing to assist. Our room was clean, tidy and very well looked after. The lotions and potions in the bathroom were lovely and they definitely added a feeling of luxury to our ablutions. The public areas were equally well presented and well cared for. Our meal in the restaurant was fabulous, everything was tasty and beautifully cooked. Our only complaint... the portions were too big and neither my wife or I could finish our meals. The size of the portions shouldn't make you think they are filling the plate at the expense of the quality of the food, my Fillet Rossini was truly excellent! So, yes The Royal Hotel definitely deserves 5 stars!Since I posted the above review in February 2024 we have returned two further times within the following 6 months and I can honestly say that The Royal Hotel is a gem.

A lovely old style yet modern inside right on the river front in Bideford. Lovely entrance, and a really lovely lounge overlooking the river with an open fireplace. The room we had was facing the back, yet was all ok, spacious and quiet. The ensuite is good, water flow ok and great soft towels. Dinner was in the restaurant and offered a good selection of food. We had a the Cajun chicken which was very tasty and cooked well. Would recommend the hotel. All the staff were very good and welcoming.
