The negative reviews are generally valid points but not of these were issues for us. The limited staff they had were friendly and helpful, so couldn't fault them but if you need to make a latter check in than 8pm that might be a problem. A comfortable and stylish room in a good location. Will stay again

The staff were friendly and couldn't do enough to help. The hotel was rated four star but the rooms were scruffy and tired. The breakfast was really nice. The location was good it took around 20 minutes to walk to the center .If the rooms were clean and tidy and checked overIt would be a 5 star rating

Having read some poor reviews I was anxious, however when we arrived we were welcomed and everything was explained, all staff were friendly. …

The room was quiet and the bed comfortable, so we managed to sleep OK after 2 days at The Fringe. We were also able to park our vehicle for the duration at no additional cost.  …

Some distance from the city centre, but you can easily walk since it's basically only one street to get there. The service was really good here. We arrived after check-in hours but got good instructions on how to check ourselves in. Breakfast was good, and so was the service during breakfast as well. The only strange thing was that our bed only had the top madrass on one side, which we didn't notice until we left. That could explain why my side of the bed was so hard to sleep on, whereas my friend slept like a princess.

I had booked a stay at the Salisbury hotel in Edinburgh. The day before my arrival I had a call mentioned as urgent. I was very surprised about the “urgent” notification. …

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was quite disappointing. From the moment I entered the room, I noticed that the furniture was in poor condition. …

Definitely not a 4 star hotel.I wouldn't complain if it were cheaper, quality/price was not at all reasonable. The rooms are very old and in very poor condition with an uncomfortable mattress. They gave us a room in the basement with the noises of the kitchen and at 3pm we had workers behind the door working it felt like it was on a construction site not in a 4 star hotel. If there is work, the neighboring rooms are not occupied. When I asked to change rooms I was told it was full, I had booked in January for June. The only positive note was the friendly staff.
