Stayed here with a friend whilst attending Ayr Races and The Open at Royal Troon, both less than an hour's drive away from Kirkconell. Martin and Elma are great hosts and couldn't make you feel more welcome as did the locals in the hotel bar!, in fact after by the end of our 3 night stay - and I hope it's not presumptuous to say so - we felt like honourary locals! such was the quality banter to be had in the evenings, particularly watching the Euro 2024 Final!! Elma's cooking is superb, particular mention of her superb porridge and scrambled eggs at breakfast! The location is lovely and quiet and although the rooms are not ensuite, with only four at the property there was never any issues sharing the 2 bathrooms and one extra separate toilet. I would just suggest some paper towels be available in the separate toilet and also some door hooks for towels in the two bathrooms. Would definitely stay again and hope to do so when The Open is at Turnberry in 2027! Wish Martin and Elma continued success with the business going forward and thanks for making myself and Keith so welcome, our stay was definitely the most memorable part of our sporting road trip in the best of ways!

Enquired about cancelling booking but no cancellation policy yet.Turned up to find room had been rebooked as owner assumed we would not turn up.Told to cancel booking on booking.com and hotel would arrange a refund, this never happened so they got twice the money for the room.

Elma and Martin, the owners, are a lovely couple, welcoming and helpful. Their dog Buddy was equally welcoming and friendly (Martin did ask if we were ok with dogs before introducing him). …

What a fantastic overnight, Martin and his wife were so down to earth and friendly, we had our two dogs and wondered at times if they were the ones paying the bill, so much was the attention and service they received. Wonderful accommodation, everything thought though nicely, our boys were welcome at breakfast. Breakfast was so good we had nothing until evening time. Simply fabulous, thank you so much.

Was in the area for a 70th Birthday Party so took the opportunity to book in to the Hotel then enjoyed a huge steak pie for lunch, watched the local team Kello Rovers play a match, went to the 70th party in the evening - good comfy bed then a huge breakfast next morning - not the Hilton but hey it did the job for me.👏👏

What a great local pub, owners were really friendly, allow dogs and even bring biscuits for them. The food served was good quality and home cooked. Really made to feel welcome and would recommend a visit.
