I recently stayed at this hostel and overall had a pleasant experience, with some mixed feelings.Location: The location is absolutely fabulous, and one of the major highlights of the stay. It was incredibly convenient to catch the Sherpa Bus right from the opposite side of the hostel, making it easy to explore the surrounding areas.Ambience & Staff: The restaurant's ambience is really nice, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere for meals. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which added to the overall positive vibe of the place.Room & Facilities: Our room was located on the ground floor, near to the kitchen, which was very convenient. However, there were a few drawbacks. The noise from people walking in the rooms above was constant and quite disturbing. The shower wasn't great, and the toilet seat made a lot of noise when used. Additionally, there was only one basin in the room, located right beside the bed, which was quite inconvenient. It would have been much better if there was an additional basin in the bathroom itself to avoid this disturbance. In summary, while I loved the location and ambience of the hostel, the layout of the room and the noise issues made it a bit less comfortable than I had hoped.

YHA Pen-y-Pass was our GCSE Geography field studies base providing a springboard for our trips out to the surrounding area - Llanberis, Ogwen, Beddgelert and Nant Gwynedd. It is good accommodation for our students. …

Nice clean youth hostel - basic but comfortable and clean. Used the self-catering facilities (more tea towels needed or bring your own). Stayed overnight for an early start to climbing Snowdon the next day. Nice family room with good en-suite facilities. Will definitely come back.

I popped in last week for some fuel before climbing Crib Goch & Yr Wyddfa. I walked up from Nant Peris and called in for a sausage and bacon roll and a coffee. The staff were really nice, the food was great and the place had a friendly buzz about it. A very nice experience all round!

The location is unbeatable, and all was as good as you can expect from YHA. Considering the lack of phone reception, the poor quality of the WiFi is a pain and something that could be easily solved. …
