Stayed here for an anniversary and it was a magical experience from the very start to the very end. The service was exemplary from all of the staff throughout. The food is out of this world. …

We were very lucky with the weather - we stayed in October and obviously it could have been bad, however staying 2 nights gave us both blue skys and and a wonderful sunset and a dry cloudy day. …

First class in every respect. I remembered the Village from The Prisoner TV series of yore. I assumed - wrongly - that like so many other once-famous places, it would have rested on its laurels and slowly fallen into mediocrity. Not a bit of it. We stayed in a large two bedroom suite (Villa Lower Winch, which is outside the hotel on the estate) which was comfy, well equipped and had everything we needed. The various Italianate buildings in the village needed a lick of paint here and there, but no doubt as the season winds down, the maintenance team (and we saw a lot of them, busy gardening, repairing etc) will deal with that. The meals, in both the hotel restaurant and the Castle brasserie were absolutely first class. As good as you get, short of going Michelin. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful - step forward Matthew at reception, who sorted out a wifi issue. But the stars of the show are the gorgeous estuary scenery and the Village itself. If you have never been, do add it to your list of places to see. It’s absolutely unique and completely unforgettable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights in the Watch House. The view from there is to die for. The food and service in the Portmeirion Hotel was outstanding, both tasting and table d'hote. Wandering around the Village was a continuing delight, especially after the crowds had gone ! ||Do go, you will not regret it

A truly amazing location. I loved the architecture and eclectic curious features and details that you find as you walk round. An amazing concept envisioned by Clough Williams-Ellis and made famous as the location of the 'Village' in the Prisoner TV series in the 1960's, I would highly recommend a stay to anyone.Further, I can honestly say that I've never met more friendly staff especially at the Hotel and Castle, who made the experience of staying in Portmeirion even more special, Thank you.It has been a long time since I've been somewhere that I really didn't want to leave.

The village is simply stunning & quaint, unlike any other we've visited this side of the Mediterranean. The grounds are exemplary, no litter and beautifully maintained & tenderedWith the exception of the front of house staff at the hotel, everybody was polite and very friendly. However, we were shocked at how unfriendly, even rude, the front of house staff were when we dined there. Tried to make conversation with one waiter who completely ignored us not even acknowledging us despite serving drinks to the tableThe only other disappointment was the various eateries closing at 5pm which meant there was nowhere to eat other than the hotel! The dire hotel experience tainted our stay at Portmeirion which was extremely disappointing

We stayed in the motorhome site for one night. The small pitch was generously sized for our vw camper van and had why, tv and drinking water. The toilets and showers were immaculately clean and warm. …
