Very convenient place to stay, 2 minute walk to Haymarket Train station and tram/bus stops. Our room was quite small and had to step over the bed to get to the curtains but was spotlessly clean. Beds were so comfortable. Heating and water was red hot and had plenty for both to shower. Staff were very helpful and friendly, recommended places to eat. Didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Would definitely stay again

(I booked my stay via Booking.com, and this review is also over there) First off, the staff. The staff here are absolutely fantastic, some of the most kind and helpful people I've ever met while staying somewhere. Thankfully there were no problems, but if there were then it's great to know that there are staff available 24/7.The room we stayed in was a family suite, it was huge, and most importantly comfortable. It was basically a full apartment. It had a nice shower room, living/dining area and a master bedroom. The living room had 2 sofa beds in so there was space for 6 people really, so for my family of 4 stay, we had ample space to be comfortable. The bedding was super clean, there were towels provided, and the pillows, they are feather and REALLY comfortable also.The location of this hotel is superb. It's next to a tram stop, bus stop, so it's easy to get to train stations, the zoo, castle, town and more within minutes.I've got to say, if/when I visit Edinburgh again, I'll certainly be staying here!

I call this the "you get what you pay for hotel". My experience was pretty good and would stay again. I didn't have any real issues. We stayed on a Saturday night for£80. Which was very good compared to the competition.Checked in was straight forward and the room was massive (attached picture). Check out was fairly painless too.The bed was nice and comfy and the room was clean.The downsides were nothing severe. The toilet was pretty small for the size of room, and there was some sort of issue on the top left part of the ceiling. The room we were in was facing back yard which did have some noise but nothing to annoying.Overall, would stay again!

The hotel is located 15 minutes walking distance from the old town, which is great if you want to visit all the attractions.The staff is friendly and available 24/7 to help with any queries.The room was provided with a kettle, tea bags, instant coffee, mugs and tea spoons but it was bit dated, small, the bed had 2 single-bed frames underneath a double bed mattress and were on wheels, which made the bed unstable and sensible to any movement.The bathroom was without window and extraction fan; the water pressure of the shower was good but the draining system wasn't as efficient and causing water to accumulate during the shower.

I booked my stay at Piries through Booking and honestly for what we paid I was expecting something better.There were spider webs around the room, the shower tray was damaged, we found water in the boiler (probably from the previous guests) and there was no toilet brush.I have to say that the room was worm and the bed really comfortable, but it wasn’t really up to our expectations.On the other hand, a really good point is the member of staff which welcomed us and that we met almost every night, he has been really nice and helpful, unfortunately I don’t remember his name but I know he lived in Spain for about 10 years.

Well what a pleasant surprise this place was! Very spacious, with lovely decor and wonderful location - Piries Hotel is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Edinburgh - a mere stone's throw away from all major attractions, quirky eateries and major shopping outlets. The price was more than fair for the quality of the stay and the staff are friendly, disability aware and knowledgeable of the area and local amenities. This is not the Hilton or some other faceless conglomerate hotel chain, but a pleasant budget abode, nestled in the centre of a vibrant, beautiful city. We hope to be back soon!

The hotel is fairly close to the city centre, only two stops away with the bus or tram. It's easy to get there from the airport as well, again with bus or train. The staff are friendly and gave me a small map with the city centre and top visiting places and instructions how to get there. Also I had emailed them the week before to ask them to give us a ground floor room because my mum has a heart condition and were more than accommodating, and gave us the ground floor junior suit, which was quite sizable. The hotel environment is alright but we didn't stay for breakfast because we wanted to explore the city. Now on the other hand, we had a hard time with the bed mattress, it was way to soft and wobbly that made it a bit hard to get comfortable. The shower head was installed on the very top and there was no extendable part which can be extremely inconvenient for ladies when having our shower. The bed spread and the sofas didn't look clean enough to be inviting And we found that the windows didn't open, and because it can be fairly cold up north the heater was ceaselessly on, making the room quite stuffy from time to time. Of course these things barely mattered or affected us, I do recommend the hotel, if your looking for something affordable, decent and in the city centre.

Had an excellent weekend. Hotel room was very clean and spacious with good amenities. Comprehensive signage and fully compliant with Covid19 guidance to ensure a safe environment. Staff were all extremely courteous with a friendly welcome and very attentive. Central location with various bars and restaurants close by. Although the room was a bit small and had a bit of a odd smell sometimes, I had a lovely night here. The room was clean, the bed was comfy and the shower was really nice, there's also a TV with with a bunch of channels and the breakfast - although there's limited options - is pretty good and very reasonably priced. The staff is very polite and helpful. I had some issues with my door but Jennifer helped me out great. There's a small Tesco supermarket just around the corner and it's within walking distance from the central area. There's also Edinburgh Haymarket just around the corner if you need to go the airport.

Check in was easy . Got to our room. Had pooh stained towels from last guests piled outside our door not nice to look at ad entering your room . Room was spacious and clean but the bed was uncomfortable. Room 15 the staff were friendly the breakfast was rubbish. Not worth £5.50

If there were a half star I would chose that! Hotel promises enhanced hygiene measures, my room was FILTHY! The shower and sink had hair in them as well as the shower having thick black mildew. The walls were filthy, the door frames dirty and sticky. The TV kettle and hairdryer were 2 months overdue a safety check. The kettle base was disgusting and the mugs were stained with coffee. Our pillows had no protectors and were an inch thick, very poor quality.The carpet was frayed and dirty.The entire room was thick with dust. On check in we were told we would be taken to a standard twin room, I had booked and paid for a standard double room but the receptionist was adamant that i had paid for a twin room even when i showed him my booking confirmation! He was so unhelpful and was waving a piece of paper at us saying Agoda who we booked through had made a mistake. When I approached him saying my room needed cleaned he responded with "what room"? He printed off a complaint form telling me that a Manager wasnt available until the morning that he was alone in the hotel. I reminded the receptionist that we are all still at risk of covid19 and that the room had not been gave the attention that their website promises guests, "what do you want me to do" he asks. Not only were we gave the wrong room but a disgusting one at that and the only member of staff available did not give a damn. The carpet on the stairs was so badly damaged that I caught my shoe on it and fell forward, inches from hitting my head on a door. when I informed the receptionist he did not respond in any way, he stared at me making me fell very uncomfortable.This is NOT a 3 star hotel and this hotel is NOT following Scottish Government guildlines with cleaning during a pandemic.We now await the outcome of our complaint.
