I cannot say enough great things about this place. Started off with brilliant check-in service from Alasdair (who was a real joy to deal with the entire trip), the room maintenance staff and cleaning staff were spot on, and the front desk was outstanding. The room itself boasted a stunning view of the castle and it was large enough for us (3 adults and 1 toddler). They set up a cot for the baby beforehand as well. We had their breakfast one morning and found that it did not have any halal options and the spread was lackluster. I quietly mentioned to the front desk that we did not enjoy the food and they didn't take any payment from us. What a way to keep customers happy! I would gladly come back here again. It's well worth the money. After an abysmal stay in London, it was nice to be received like royalty in Scotland. The only downside is the plumbing is a bit old and can be problematic but I would deal with that for the service we received! Hope to come back here again soon. Thank you, Apex Grassmarket!

The staff here is very friendly, always making me feel welcome. The location is fantastic—situated right in front of the Grassmarket and nestled below the castle, which gives it a unique charm. It's also very convenient for exploring; from here, it's easy to access many other popular spots and attractions around the city.

Myself and my husband had a wonderful stay here last night. Room was beautiful and clean. View was amazing. Breakfast was outstanding. Fruit was so lovely and fresh and the vegetarian breakfast was the best I've had in a long time. Thank you to the lovely staff in the breakfast room this morning 10/10 service.

Stars three nights. Great location. Beautiful property. Excellent service. Breakfast is outstanding. However, the plumbing doesn’t work. The toilets don’t flush well and the sinks don’t drain. Also, climate change is making air conditioning necessary. This place doesn’t have it.

Nestled in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Grassmarket district, the Apex Grassmarket Hotel is a true gem among the city’s accommodations. My stay here was nothing short of exceptional, combining modern comfort with a touch of Scottish charm. From the moment I stepped into the stylish lobby, I was greeted warmly by the attentive staff, who were eager to ensure my stay was memorable. The check-in process was swift and efficient, setting the tone for the impeccable service I experienced throughout my time at the hotel. The room itself was a delightful blend of contemporary design and cozy furnishings, offering stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the lively Grassmarket below. The bed was incredibly comfortable, ensuring a restful night’s sleep after a day exploring the city’s attractions. One of the highlights of my stay was dining at the hotel’s restaurant, where I indulged in delicious Scottish cuisine made from locally sourced ingredients. The menu was diverse, catering to all tastes, and the atmosphere was relaxed yet sophisticated. The hotel’s location is simply unbeatable. Situated just steps away from Edinburgh Castle and within walking distance of the Royal Mile and Princes Street, it was the perfect base for exploring the city’s rich history and vibrant culture. After a day of sightseeing, I enjoyed relaxing in the hotel’s spa facilities, which offered a range of treatments to unwind and recharge.Overall, the Apex Grassmarket Hotel exceeded my expectations in every way. Whether you’re visiting Edinburgh for business or leisure, I highly recommend this hotel for its excellent service, prime location, and luxurious accommodations. I look forward to returning soon!

The service was excellent and we were really well taken care of. The room was pleasant and the beds were comfortable, however we had a superior castle view family room and it was not good value for the price we paid. The room was decidedly small- only just space for the two beds and no proper organised room for storage of clothes for a family. It was smaller than a double room at a typical American motel and not significantly bigger than the standard rooms in this hotel despite the extra $100+ price per night. In addition, there was no ventilation to the room ( or bathroom!). So the only way to get fresh air or to cool the room in the summer was to open the window. But this let all the noise from the street below in and with nightly castle concerts and parties out in Grassmarket in the early hours (3-5 am arguments and fights beneath the window on 2 out of 5 nights!) of the morning every night it was impossible to get a reasonable nights sleep ( especially hard to get children to sleep)- typically I would be up multiple times through the night opening and closing the window depending on which was more uncomfortable- the noise or the heat and stuffiness in the room. They are very child friendly, and have a pool which was fun for the kids. The gym is very basic. In summary we would stay here again in a city view standard room but the castle view family rooms are definitely not worth the price tag. Would probably be find for a single person or couple.

My friend's 70th birthday / retirement party had a great turn-out, great buffet meal provided with little left over, the disco played popular dancing music that pulled many of us onto the dance floor, or to sit through listeming while finishing off ththrough to e buffet at the tables. Everything was well-planned for the guests to enjoy through to the end of the evening.
