Welcoming staff, great little restaurant downstairs and solid breakfasts. Get the brie bites with one of their cocktails and you cannot go wrong. Room was overall nice. Comfy bed and very helpful Scotland guide that informed where I visited. Great shower with shampoo etc but the carpet was rough. Also, noise carries from downstairs and the hall at night and people tended to be noisy.

Old fashioned hotel with lovely staff. We had a nice room, but with a few tweaks, it could be gorgeous . Chairs in the window rather than a sofa so you could enjoy the sea view. A wardrobe more in keeping with the rest of the furniture. The four posters need dressing, not necessarily full-on drapes, but something the wall end. Also, the kerb appeal .we arrived via the train station, and we could see weeds and litter in the car park and seating area. The seats all needed cleaning, and the front door needs cleaning and Painting. We loved the bar really quaint. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again .

Stayed here for one night as a solo traveller in May 2024. It was just a stopover on my way by motorcycle to the North of Scotland. I did not have great expectations as it was at a good price. My expectations were well exceeded. Lovely friendly staff, nice bar area, decent enough room and big bathroom. Good room in fact for a single. The breakfast was faultless.I was greeted on my arrival by a staff member called Abigail. She was lovely (as were the other staff) and made every effort to reassure me about parking my motorcycle and its safely. I am not particularly precious and knew Dunbar was a decent enough area. Abigail really went out of her way and offered to get me something to use as a cover (which I didn’t take up on)…but thanks for the kind offer. The hotel does need a bit of love and it would have been a grand place in its day. I do appreciate the costs involved in running such a place. Just a bit of a spruce up here and there outside but it was very clean to be fair. Would be my preferred place to stay over in Dunbar in the future and I will certainly be back.Thank you Abigail (and the other lovely staff) who made my stay such a pleasant one. I know you are generally called Abi but you prefer Abigail/Abbey National (so one of your colleagues told me :-) .)

Stayed one night (on Saturday) with my teenage son. ||The staff were fantastic. Could not have been more helpful. ||But the hotel is very dated and grubby. My son and I were very uncomfortable. It felt like a grubby old Youth Hostel rather than a hotel.

We were recommended the steak night, we went along with our dog as staying at another hotel and didn't n want to leave him. We were sat in the bar area across from the bar/reception. The steak was nice enough, atmosphere for me was a bit small and cramped, 5 tables at the front, I imagine as we had a dog this is were they sat us. As your beside the reception you can't help hear staff chatting away, these days you get used to trying to unhear personal talk amongst companies colleagues. We didn't see the rest of the hotel as we weren't staying there, but I hear the reviews are ok.

Booked this hotel on a recommendation and as part of a two night stay. ||The whole hotel is need of some serious upgrading. Thread bare taped up carpets. Dirty walls and wonky everything else. …
