Stayed recently for three nights on a superb Groupon deal!. Found the staff very welcoming and friendly and enjoyed the breakfasts, whilst overlooking the harbour! The rooms were pristine, clean and comfortable with good views of Ilfracombe from the window. The highlight was probably the amazing Sunday carvery, only £12.95, which was unquestionably full of flavour, and the vegetables cooked to perfection! The cauliflower cheese really had a gorgeous cheese flavour and the red cabbage and sauce added an extra dimension, but the Jewell In the crown were the parsnips, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, simply delicious! Well done chef!!!

When we arrived at the location, the room was not ready, we had the card to enter but everything looks like the other guests had just left, the room was supposed to be ready for us at 15.00 but unfortunately we had to walk around the city for 1.5 hours . An employee let us put our luggage in his room until our accommodation is ready to live in. After 5 hours of driving, I clearly needed the toilet and rest, which clearly did not happen. The manager started to say that they only have 3 people cleaning, trying to blame someone for the management's inability to have a trained staff to provide services that are paid for by the customers. The shower cabin was disgusting :(

We stayed here in Jul 2023. The location is good right by the harbour but that is part of the problem. We had a terrible night's sleep due to the near constant noise in the location. Between noisy after pub stragglers, squawking seagulls, cars tearing up the road, skateboarders and church clock chiming, we were being constantly disturbed. We got virtually no sleep. The rooms were basic but at least clean but more akin to the feel of hostel accommodation. Certainly not worth anywhere near the £118 / night for room only that we paid. The room was stuffy because we had to keep the window closed. The supplied fan was not up to the job and very noisy. Would suggest to the owner sound insulation on windows, aircon or at least good fans that are quiet. On the whole we would not recommend this hotel, but if you are desperate take some earplugs.

Just returned from a lovely stay at the Grand Harbour. The hotel was really clean, the staff were really friendly, and it was great value for money.||There isn’t any parking, but lots of nearby car parks. …

Ended up here for 1 night and for the money it was good value. Good location in town. Renovated room, basic bit all we needed. Coffee/tea and hairdryer were appreciated. Good wifi and tv, great shower/bath tub. Some noise from the road and could hear other patrons during the night.

Can't agree with the only previous review. Greeting at the Royal Britannia - the Grand Harbour is an annex some 50 yards away - was cheerful and efficient. Not asked for photo ID or driving licence or asked to sign about smoking. …

The whole hotel looked very clean it looks like it'll just been freshly decorated. The room was immaculate. We had a room on top floor at the rear so it was also silent from the noise of a town on a Saturday night. The WiFi worked and the shower was better than the one we have at home. All in all.Not a thing to complain about.Winner.

We were given a room here because our original hotel was being renovated. ||From the outside its just a door on the street as the ground floor is in the hands of the builder. …

No daily cleaning. Clean towels were left on the dirty floor outside of room. Asked for some more loo roll in the morning, returned in the evening to find it had not been restocked so had to go out and buy some! The room was hot and stuffy and the window barely even opens a crack. The room felt cheap and the whole place was soulless.
