I needed the room in the area for one night as I had a funeral nearby to attend. Check in was quick. Our room was clean and spacious, but decor a little tired. Had dinner in the hotel restaurant, not a huge menu but enough choice. …

I was only staying for one night on this occasion but will definitely return for a longer stay. The hotel was superb on every level and very affordable. A friendly face upon check-in, a spacious room with an excellent breakfast, located in a rural setting, extensive grounds set around a lake. One of the best hotels I've stayed in.

I will be honest the spa was more like a kids swimming pool, it was loud of full of children. They were jumping in constantly and splashing us and their parents did nothing. The room was immaculate and fine, nothing wrong with the room.Lunch was lovelyWe had a dinner package and then when we got to dinner we found out most things on the menu we had to pay extra for. We both ordered medium rare sirloin which was an extra £13.50 each, they both came blue. We ordered peppercorn sauce each and that was another £5 each. In total our meal came to £50 after we had already booked and paid for a two course dinner. I would rate the food a 1/10.Breakfast was also not good at all.All the staff were extremely polite and lovely with us, the room and staff are the only reason this isn’t getting a 1*.

The grounds are beautiful and the hotel itself is lovely, Staff were good. Restaurant food was nice but was pricey for what it was. Staff in there could do with a bit more training on fine dining. …

AVOID|We went for a girls weekend. Booked an apartment with two rooms.|Checked in and paid our £720 for two nights, to then be asked for £10 per person per visit we made to the pool! No way was that happening.  …

Beautiful location but very isolated. With a coach party of 31 and staying 4 nights. Rooms excellent, food not worthy of a 4 star hotel. Dinner very limited. Badly presented, not well cooked. Breakfast somewhat chaotic. Not enough staff and constantly running out of basics, like bread, marmalade, bacon. Cold breakfast plates. No bread rolls at dinner, no side plates, no pudding forks. Had better at a 3 star.
