Great value for the price you pay, all your basic needs are met. We booked a private double for me and my partner and for the price were well happy. The room was clean, the bedding was fresh and the service was friendly. The checkout was smooth, we had to leave at 6am and there was a gentlemen on the sofa who was very polite and informative. Book this aware that its not going to be a Hilton but in this economy this is a little gem. We slept happy and content with our choice ❤️

It was okay at best. I will say that the location is ideal. It’s a very close walk to get into the city. My friend and I stayed for 3 nights and booked a private room. …

Trust me when I say this: do not stay there. I can’t believe places like this exist and are even in legal. The staff is incredibly rude and not competent. The only way to get help is to call the manager that doesn’t answer his phone. At all. Because yes, we did ask for help multiple times. But without the manager, the volunteers at the reception cannot help you and I quote one of them: « don’t give a shit if it’s not their problem ». The staff at the reception does not know how the system works, cannot speak English and are extremely condescending. We booked a mixed dorm (our first mistake). After seeing the dorm (and oh my god I still have nightmares) we asked for a private room which was the most difficult thing to get and not because they were not available, but because the staff was simply helpless. The toilets are gross. Disgusting. I get that it is cheap and that it’s for backpackers, but there is still a bare minimum that should be expected. Just take some time to read the reviews and especially the hostel’s responses to them. It will tell you all you need to know as they are basically bullying their guests when they write bad reviews. If you still choose this hostel, please book a private room. It looks like a jail cell but hey, at least you won’t share your room with homeless people.

Stayed for business reason so booked a private room which was decent. The staff were friendly and laid back. It is close to city centre and shops. The room was clean and shared bathroom and kitchen were also clean and tidy. There is place to charge and use electronic devices and has free WIFI for guests.

hostel was clean enough, atmosphere was alright, and location was great - hey, it’s a hostel, you get what you pay for! what made the experience sour was a total lack of clarity and communication around expectations and rules. for example - doors were left unlocked, and people ate food inside the rooms (when it stays not to). lots of confusion around beds getting taken when it could all be solved by just assigning bunks with numbers…

Clyde Hostel is anarchy, and not in a good way. No one stole my stuff, so that's a positive. 2/3 staff members we interacted with were fine, if not incredibly disorganized. The last staff I interacted with was a man who was incredibly condescending and rude. He had given away my bunk to another person and then mansplained to me that I'm supposed to leave my belongings on the bed so that no one cleans my bed. But their rules clearly state to leave your stuff in the lockers, and to strip your bed so that cleaning staff know which beds to clean. Despite their rules, the cleaning staff cleaned my sheets and the man gave my bed away to some other dude. The thing that annoys me the most is that they create these rules and then do not enforce them. My first night, I walked in and these men were sitting in the room at 9:30pm eating food and talking incredibly loudly while other people tried to sleep. I argued with them until they left that they were supposed to eat in the common room. Where are the staff enforcing these supposed rules? Why set rules in the first place if you're not going to actually make people follow them?Overall, whatever, Clyde is a hostel and it was clean enough. But seriously, enforce your rules or embrace the chaos.

This place is chill as heck. Given the price we didn’t expect much and we weren’t disappointed. It was a bed to sleep in and a bathroom/shower/kitchen available when needed. …

The people really made this hostel. The rooms not so nice and either are the bathrooms but like I said the people were lovely and really made it feel homely. I had such a great time here and would recommend for the vibes.

The bunk beds were DUCKTAPED together and the bedding stunk as if it had not been washed, luckily I had brought a sleeping bag. The shared toilets were disgusting and were clogged and stunk. …

Rooms were as advertised, nothing wrong with them. Bathrooms were fine. Kitchen also as advertised, I suppose . . . no refrigerator, very few cups or bowls. However, the kitchen was in a constantly dirty state---staff/guests left dirty dishes, oven was smoking, bugs climbing on walls etc. Simply not worth the price, spend a bit more elsewhere unless you don't plan on entering the kitchen then maybe it's worth it.Until they overbooked my room. Stayed for multiple nights but had to spend one on the couch because someone entered and slept in my bed. They deny overbooking, but it is still their responsibility to ensure guests know where their room is (but guest was able to unlock the door, so clearly they were in the room assigned). Staff offered no remedy for this, unsurprisingly, and was not especially attentive to the guests.Location is conveniently between center city and university areas.
