We came here for dinner one night. The service was very good, polite staff. We sat in the dining room and were originally the only people there but 2 other tables became occupied during our meal which improved the atmosphere. The bar area was busy. I had the chicken kebab and it was pretty much a plate of salad with very small pieces of chicken. So, it seemed very expensive (£16.95) for ultimately a salad. It has a garden which had some live music playing which was nice to listen to.

We stopped here for lunch. Opted for ploughman’s consisting of cheese, ham, pickles , crusty bread etc. but that wasn’t possible we could only choose off the back of the menu baked potatoes, sandwiches and ham, egg and chips. …

Popped in for a meal, very nice. Great atmosphere and staff looked like they enjoyed their work. Lovely beer garden where dogs were allowed - not that I had mine with me. Burger relish was delishious - I normally hate the stuff, if you know how it's made please share.

Perfectly located to explore this area of the Welsh marches. A 400 year old Inn with lots of character, good food at reasonable prices and a good array of taps in the bar. A lovely garden with a good children's play area and large sheltered area if the weather's not so good. Staff were very friendly and efficient. Excellent stay all round.

Went here today with my parents and uncle for a quick visit to the area. The manager and staff were extremely friendly and very lovely to have a nice laugh with. The chef Simon did a remarkably job on the Sunday lunch today. Would definitely recommend coming here for a peaceful lunch with the family. In terms of the hotel haven't stayed here myself but my parents stayed one weekend and loved the room they were placed in and the atmosphere of the whole area. Will definitely be coming here again!!

Six of us ate in the restaurant on Saturday evening. The food was of varied quality but the meal I had; pie of the day (turkey) with mustard mash and mixed veg was one of the worst meals I have ever had in a pub restaurant. …

Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience. Ordered fish and chips, and I have to say, the fish was the worst I had. It was obviously frozen and had a weird smell/texture to it. The batter was so soggy. The soup served was almost cold. As you can imagine, my tummy was irritated for a couple of days. Not to mention the sick member of staff who prepared the morning tables while coughing into her hands and touching basically everything. I find this extremely irresponsible and unhygienic. That's why we skipped our breakfast and let the staff know. We got 10 pounds off which is nothing considering the germs we were exposed to. Shower head didn't work and the water was dripping from the ceiling in the corner (mold was on the ceiling). All in all, very disappointing experience even though the place is so special. It doesn't take much to make a customer happy. Make sure next time that the room is checked before your guests arrive and don't expose them to an unhealthy environment.

Was very full but lady at reception showed us to a private quiet room for our drinks. The room was decorated lovely and even had a bit of history inside about a priest hole which was very interesting. Really recommend lovely staff and a great experience 😊
