Really old hotel right on the river, we had a 4 poster room with views of the river and the tea rooms, which was so nice. The rooms are nice, although don't expect modern, it's all very old and quirky, very old antique furniture etc. Bathrooms are nice though, although the hot water takes a while to come through. Staff are really helpful & friendly. Great breakfast, but not many choices for alternative diet options.

Great food! We had an evening meal at the Hotel last Wednesday. My husband had the Indian mixed grill which was he really enjoyed, and I had the best steak and Guinness pie ever! Meat so tender and just gorgeous. Big portions. No complaints here!

Just back from a two night stay at the Eagle. The only good point was the food was nice.|The bad points ...The hotel is the worst I have ever stayed in. The reception area never has a staff member on to talk to about any issues. …

The whole place needs renovating, the carpets are old and dirty in all places, paint work is scruffy and in our room the taps were loose in the sink and bath. …

Lovely venue looking over the river. Plenty of tables if you just wanted a drink. (Didn't need to be staying in the hotel.) Enormous food portions, don't need to order starters. Bar drink prices reasonable. Pleasant staff. Wish we'd found this at the beginning of the week. So full couldn't have pudding!

Food and professionalism of the staff (males) way below any acceptable standard of a hotel. Male staff sat on the phones, clue less, like they have been dragged off the street. not interested in interacting to customers, food was very average. Over cooked chips and gammon. Is really that difficult? They make it look like it is..

Me and my husband stayed here for one and the warning flags started coming as soon as we came into the car park. There were very loud lads drinking at 3pm outside. …

Good location and food was okay. Stayed in number 17 of the family rooms and it was an experience to say the least. There was a duvet shoved up the chimney stack along with old newspaper to presumably keep the draft out. The sheets were stained along with the actual duvet and pillows. Toilet was clean and so was the sink but the shower was mouldy and the water was barley warm and the bathroom floor was in need of a good clean. No heating on, single glazed windows which you could hear EVERYTHING outside, including full conversations of anyone stood below at anytime of night. Was made worse as they had a party going on that ended in the early hours of the morning. Fair play, can't do anything about the lingering guests of the party but had the building got secondary glazing, it may have muffled the sound. Mattress was solid, TV was broken, kettle had seen better days, bathroom door must have had a hole in it at some point which had been patched up with abit of plyboard. Thank-fully only stayed one night.
