Reviewing the RestaurantPositives: the food seemed decent, we had burgers and the fish and chips and we all polished it off. The staff were really attentive and lovely to interact with (thank you!), and the atmosphere of the old hotel is really nice. We popped into the bar to use the loos and it's such a cosy wee setup, perfect to watch the matches in a traditional setting, with well priced drinks. We've been coming for a while and always appreciated that.Negatives: the noise. I'm not sure if they've changed the layout slightly but despite there only being one other table in (who were chatting at a normal level), we had to shout to each other to be heard - the ambient noise from the bar and the wooden panelled room meant noise was bouncing everywhere, and it was pretty chilly as the cold air came straight into the restaurant area - some folk were sitting with jackets on. The noise became really irritating and really put a dampener on the experience as we were all getting fed up saying "pardon" every few minutes. The dining room could do with a partition from the entryway, or at least some soft furnishings to absorb the sound better, then it would be spot on.

Brilliant little local pub. Cheap pints, great staff and good for watching all the football as they have TNT, Sky Sports and Premier Sports.

Last night we had 2 fish and chips dinners and the fish was off, chips were dry and the lemon was rotten... Asked for a fresh lemon, only to have the same rotten lemon returned with the rotten bit cut off which was handed to me from the servers bare hands... Shockingly bad service and lack of any kind of basic hygiene while handling food... Won't ever return

The rooms need to be modernized, they are old, and it is a shame that the window in the room only opens about ten centimeters, but the location is excellent and convenient to the bus stop, the restaurant is absolutely recommended, the food is very good and well presented, the breakfasts are also really good, so I'd say it's excellent value for money, given how expensive Edinburgh is!

The hotel is an ideal base for exploring Edinburgh. The rooms are nice, clean. On the ground floor there is a bar and restaurant with very good food and drinks. The service is very nice and helpful. You can also buy breakfast on site. There are bus stops nearby. It's easy to get here from the airport. If I ever visit Edinburgh again I will definitely stay here.
