Clean room and comfy bed but a very basic room and absolutely freezing. The "heater" did not work. It was so cold that we had to sit in our coats and then lay them across the duvet in bed. There was no soap at all in the dispenser. …

This hotel was not safe. Someone managed to enter my room at 4am even though I locked it from the inside. They were not guests but had managed to enter the property somehow. I shouted really loudly and they ran away. …

The staff were lovely and the rooms very clean. The rooms need a bit of updating. The window in room 206 did not close and noise from the Wetherspoons terrace below made sleeping difficult.

Stayed here for a few days with family visiting York.Location - easily within 10 min walk of everything (Minster, Shambles, river). Is just a pity it's above a Wetherspoons pub. This made it extremely noisy as it seems to be a central place for students to meet. There's no communal area in the hotel, so no place to sit with family and have a drink. Really missed this facility. Couldn't really use the Wetherspoons for this as it was fully of students getting drunk (nothing against this, just don't wanna sit and have a drink with family whilst it's happening).

I recently stayed at Travelodge York Central and had an average experience. The location is convenient for exploring the city center, but it's a bit far from the University of York. The room was clean, though the amenities were basic. It's a decent option if you need to be near the city center, but consider the distance if you're planning to visit the university frequently.

When I heard it was a 2 * Hotel I almost didn't go but my hubby had booked it allready . Check in was easy, requested a room over river got 205 although window was high we couldn't really see the river. Room was very clean ,crisp clean sheets, comfy bed , but pillows bit to firm for our necks. Nicely decorated. Lived up to better than what I expected . 15 minute walk into the centre of York. Would stay again. We didn't find it noisy once the window was shut. Tip travellodge you need bathmats in bathrooms. Had to use the hand towel.
