This was a lovely stay, we are so glad we stopped here. I don't understand what some guests complain about in their reviews. The room was very nice and cozy. The hosts are so thoughtful and helpful, they take care of everything you need. The breakfast was amazing! the view is lovely, plenty of parking and they have the sweetest dog. Thank you so much!

Not a luxury hotel but absolutely fine- rooms are nothing amazing but have everything you could really need, but what makes it a great place to stay is the couple who run the place, who could not be nicer. …

AVOID AT ALL COSTWe were aware of poor reviews from several review sites but the lack of other available accommodation meant we had no choice, having now experienced the Dunroamin I wished we had carried on roaming to find a room.We were a party of 4 travelling on motorcycles and on our arrival we were warmly greeted outside by Lesley who immediately started listing instructions most of which I missed because I was still wearing my crash helmet. After securing the bikes in the poorly maintained car park (including an abandoned car) we crossed the road to listen to further instructions about keeping the door locked! It was clear from the outside and confirmed once inside that zero care or pride has been lavished on what was probably a nice property a century ago!We were hot and just wanted to take our biking gear off and have a pint, but Lesley insisted we choose our evening meal whilst stood in the hallway holding our motorcycle helmets and overnight bags. There was no menu to look at and no prices and a very limited choice. Disgusting is the best description I can give to the cleanliness of our room despite a vacuum cleaner stationed at the top of the stairs, I very much doubt that it has been used for years. The bathroom was small and the shower full of mould, you wouldn’t feel clean if you used it.We went to the bar, again limited choice of draft beers, the cider was off, the larger was warm and so lively that our ‘host’ had to spoon the froth from the top. We’d made our choice for dinner on arrival at 5 O’clock and was told it would be served at 6. We were then told the bar closes at 7! This was a Saturday night!I had a steak that was tasty and fairly priced at £19 but my profiteroles arrived with what can only be described as a cowpat of grainy chocolate sauce on top. Lesley made a comment: “I don’t know what went wrong with the chocolate sauce, it’s got a mind of its own!”Breakfast was ok but there was no flexibility in times 07:30 - 08:30.We paid £84 for the room and felt totally cheated. I strongly advise you to find other accommodation even if you have to travel further.

One of the most doubtful stays beforehand but based on the reviews we thought it would be fine.It was not.Other reviews mention that the rooms need some work. That is the under statement of the century. From the wallpaper to the beds, they are disgusting and originate from long ago. The experience can be compared to sleeping in the attic of your long deceased grandmother. No effort is being put into this establishment.Hosts are friendly but very strange. Doors need to remain locked and the bar is open between 16:00 and 19:00. Dinner was quite cheap but still bad for the price. Breakfast choice needed to be made while eating dinner and the choice for dinner had to be made the minute we set a foot in the door.Had a laugh with some locals that were sent out of the bar at 7. They mentioned they had a sit in last week till 8. Even locals felt sorry for us staying there and offered to come over to their place for a pint and bbq. This place should honestly be out of business.

Most of the sauces provided were expired already and the cleanliness of the rooms was not ideal. Food was great though and host was very friendly.

We had a fantastic stay here passing through as part of cycling Lands End to John O'Groats. We were exceptionally catered for and it was clear that Iain had catered for hungry cyclists before. The breakfast was also excellent.Thoroughly recommend the Dunroamin Hotel to all.

Lovely wee hotel right on the banks of the Dornoch firth. The couple running this hotel are lovely and couldn't do enough to ensure you have a comfortable stay.To be fair I had read the reviews before coming here and for all the nay Sayers and whingers complaining about being cold or not fancy enough for them all I can say is Welcome to the Highlands, now away n bile yir heid.If you want fancy book Hilton, if you want modern book Novotel ( both of which I use regularly for work and trust me, they have their issues) if you want an honest Scottish Highland hotel run by people bending over backwards to help you then book the Dunroamin.Times are hard all over, don't put someone down for not having a spare 10 grand to throw away on furnishings just because they aren't to your taste.I wasn't looking for fancy, if you visit Invershin only to sit in your room I have news for you, you should have stayed home because that is some of the most beautiful country in the UK around there.Fingers crossed and work allowing ill be back in summer.

Out of all the places I stayed during my trip around Scotland, the absolute jewel in the crown was this hotel. I read some poor reviews and I would urge you to ignore them. …

The welcome, food, and flexibility of the hosts were absolutely flawless.|As other reviews have identified, this isn't a formulaic hotel, it's a home-from-home kind of place. It's a great location for tourists exploring the highlands, so if we venture back up again we'd definitely visit again.
