Small but comfy room in a great location. The host made the experience easy and gave clear instructions for check in/out. Street parking was easy a block away out of the permit zone. …

Room prices as so expensive since Covid! I contacted Jason to book 3 night in August for me and my sister. His prices were very reasonable and he was prompt with replying. …

Cold, damp, smelly. We stayed in two different rooms, the heating didn’t work in the first one, shower drain was clogged in the second one, so we couldn’t shower the second day. Note that heating only works about two hours each in the morning and evening, so not appropriate for anyone planning to spend any significant amount of time inside. Probably ok for someone planning to spend only one night, not planning to shower, and has an insensitive nose. We had to buy air freshener and a scented candle to cope. Leaving the hotel was one of the highlights of our Scotland trip.Scotland is lovely by the way.

I wanted to share my experience so that someone else may avoid the hassle. I booked this hotel 8 months early. I realized during booking I didn't provide a credit card but figured we'd shore up the bill when I checked in. I had every intention of keeping the reservation but received no other communications. Fast forward to the week of the trip. I am on my vacation, just days away from the stay when I get an email. The owner is asking me to transfer CASH into his bank account because he doesn't do credit cards. a) it felt fishy/scammy...is this even the owner/manager? b) I don't even know how to do that on a good day, let alone while I am hiking in Scotland and c) my cell service wasn't being reliant to contact. Again, I think I will try to figure it out when I arrive, but the e-mail said he will not guarantee the rooms unless payment is received before arrival. Since I couldn't figure it out, I assumed he'd let the rooms go. The day we arrive in Inverness, I try to call him. No answer so I left a polite message. Assuming we don't have anywhere to sleep, I book and check in to an alternate hotel. He calls me 30+ minutes later saying I can show up and pay cash. I tell him we've made other arrangements (and my bad, I told him our new location), and he proceeds to YELL at me that he will COME TO THAT HOTEL TO COLLECT, demands that I owe him money, etc. I apologize and try to explain my side, but his anger continues to ramp up until he threatens that he will see me shortly to collect and hangs up. I spent the entire night unsettled that he would show up, get confrontational or worse, violent. I didn't let my daughter even leave her room. This was crazy. Time to update the business model.

Very cozy, homey place just outside of city center. Riverbank is less than a 15 minute walk from the train station, across the bouncy bridge and along the river. Check in was easy and accommodating after a slight mix up. …

This was a direct booking and email communication before my visit was excellent. Jason is a brilliant host and gave me a very warm welcome despite shenanigans with the entry keypad which were entirely my fault. …

Riverbank is a good location in a fairly quiet street. It's an easy walk into the city centre, the old town, the Caledonian Canal, Inverness castle and the Ness Islands which are well worth a visit. …
