We stayed here in Dec of 2023, but I still remember this was one of the nicest hotel rooms I have stayed in. I adore the old architecture. There was so much charm and character. Beautiful furnishings and bathroom. The room was very large and very comfortable. We also really enjoyed the tavern. Easy walk to bus stop. 100% would (and hope to) stay again.

We spent 7 nights and do not regret it at all. The location is great. It's a few minutes by buss to the city center. There are several restaurants and pubs within walking distance. The bar below the hotel has an enormous selection of whiskies. They also offer a complementary beer every night. When we come back to Edinburgh, we will definitely be staying here again.

I booked the hotel for my Mum for an overnight stay in Edinburgh. The location is perfect for exploring Morningside and the bus stop is across the road that takes you to Princes Street. …

We were very well welcomed at the Canny Man's (Owners' Bar a few meters from the hotel) by Sean who was very professional and very pleasant, accompanying us to our room, carrying our two heavy bags (Bravo and Thank You), speaking English to us in a very understandable English (we are French, and after 2 weeks in Scotland, we are grateful with persons who have this attention)The room is very quiet (the hotel is a bit set back from the main street), very tastefully decorated and well appointed. The bed is very comfortable and gave us ideas for ours at home.So three perfect nights 20 minutes from the center by very frequent bus lines. At the TOP !

The rooms at The Lane were so comfy, had such a peaceful stay for 4 nights during the Edinburgh festival. The Canny Man's pub downstairs is beautiful and the food was delicious. Breakfast kept us filled up for the day and the location made it perfect to enjoy the Fringe. 10 star stay and a massive thanks to Mark and his team.

Great hotel in a good distance to the city centre. Very friendly service that helped us check in from the canny man’s pub. We had the blue suite. Very large room with a nice bathroom with bath and shower. Rooms were clean, had everything we needed. Our only negative was the fact that it’s and older building with older windows. This particular room was on the road side wich is quite a busy road even during the night. This in combination with the older windows resulted in quite some noise at night. We came prepared with earplugs so it was not the biggest issue for us. I can also imagin this is not an issue on the rooms who are facing the other road/no road. When we arrived we were lucky to have a parking spot in their parking.

The Lane Hotel is a small boutique hotel about 2 miles from Old Town. It feels more like an airbnb because there is no front desk and you check in at the bar/restaurant they own. …
